“Fabulous Cottage”
Reviewed 8 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just spent a wonderful week at Rattra Cottage. What a fantastic location right in the heart of the village.
Although parking is tight we still managed with quite a large car.
The cottage was very clean, spacious but still cosy with plenty of storage space. The outside seating area was very welcome as we had such good weather.
The downstairs shower room is very quite small but a great asset for my Father in law who has difficulty with stairs.
I would certainly recommend the cottage for anyone wishing to stay in the area as it makes a great base for exploring the surrounding countryside.

Thank you for writing a great review. Glad that you were able to enjoy some time outside on the patio. It's a very peaceful spot in spite of being just round the corner from all the shops and amenities.

“Wonderful corner of Scotland”

Rattra is a lovely, not so little cottage right in the centre of Kirkcudbright. With three decent bedrooms, bathroom and separate shower room, it's got plenty of family space. The owners are extremely helpful. Parking is fine for a reasonably sized car, and there's a nice bit of outside space. Despite being in the centre of the town, it's very quiet, and Kirkcudbright itself has much to offer, including the lovely Broughton House, MacLellan's Castle, and plenty of Art Galleries and studios as well as a fine town museum and fishing activity. The nearby Wildlife Park is well worth a visit (walking distance). After last year's independence vote, I was interested in how the English would be received, but as ever, this is just a lovely friendly area with great people, and the Baker's opens early for great lunchbox goodies! Don't miss Threave Castle or Cairnholy

“Small but well appointed in a perfect location”
Reviewed 18 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The central location was perfect for easy access to shops, galleries, harbour and dog walking.
Three teenage girls used the upstairs rooms and bathroom with adults in the downstairs double room, where the shower room was small but adequate.
The extra sitting area in the sun room was a bonus. The kitchen was well equipped.
The wifi was not always strong, but OK in the kitchen and sitting room.
Vehicular access is tight, but manageable.

We enjoyed visits to local beaches and the Loch Ken water sports facilities.
Chocolate factory better suited to younger children

Glad to hear Rattra Cottage suited you and your family and that you enjoyed its location near all the amenities.
The downstairs shower room is indeed 'wee' but provides a useful facility for people who are unable to get up the stairs to the main bathroom.
I hope you choose Kirkcudbright for a holiday again soon.

“Delightful”

The cottage is well equipped, comfortable and surprisingly large. The two bedrooms and two TV's are most welcome. It is very centrally placed to walk to all the shops and restaurants in the town. Kirkcudbright reflects much of South West Scotland - laidback, quiet and gently appreciative of visitors.

Rattra Cottage can sleep 6 people very comfortably as it has 2 double bedrooms and a bunk room but we also welcome enquiries from couples.

“Lovely cottage, cosy and central”
Reviewed 1 April 2014 for a stay in February 2014

My partner and I stayed in the cottage for 3 night and had a great time the cottage is comfortable, clean and homey. We enjoyed playing the board games they had to offer and was easy to warm the house up even in the winter. Central location just need to go round the corner to get into the town, all the locals in the town were really friendly. Thanks Harry from Nuala and Dale :)
