We stayed at the Hotel last night - I don’t usually criticise but the hotel was extremely hot and no air in the rooms, we had compact rooms but the one was bigger that the other and we couldn’t put our case on the floor- definitely compact. No shelf in bathroom which was awkward. Beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. There was a safe but it didn’t work. One of ground floor rooms was right next to a cliff and slightly cloustiphobic. Beware we were on third floor and no lift- the young lady offered to help with our case but it was 23kg so we felt we couldn’t ask her to carry it. The staff were not very helpful and their customer service was shocking. They gave us no information when we arrived so we had to ask about breakfast later. The oven was broke so there was just continental with some scrambled eggs which were poor. One good point was the location but overall a disappointing experience.

I am sorry to see that your stay here at The Ranald Hotel was overall disappointing. We do appreciate all feedback good or bad as it does help us to improve in the near future for new and returning guests.

It would be much appreciated if you could email me over all your points made in a bit more detail to manager@theranaldhotel.com. I can then work with that to find out why both rooms were not the same and find out what member of staff you were dealing as we should
be here to offer a very helpful and friendly service to all guests.

I would like to take the time just to point out that we do not advertise a lift on our website this is why we do offer to carry your luggage for you. Being a metro hotel - small hotel we just simply do not have the space for this facility.

I look forward to hearing from you soon to get this looked at for you.

Kind regards,

stayed here for one night while attending a concert, managed to park outside the hotel in a metered bay, receptionist was very welcoming as were the staff in the morning, room was on the third floor , clean enough but a tad small and walls could have been thicker so we didn't have to listen to shenanigans at 4am ! apart from that good, location a few minutes from the ferry terminal, all in all fine, breakfast was different but good.

The place had been rebuilt. There were stark modern aspects of painted breezeblocks on the stairwells (no lifts) with large, well appointed comfortable bedrooms. Bathrooms had efficient showers & the disabled room had a large wet room. Breakfasts are a bit strange - there's delicious fruit salad and yoghurt & some people liked the baked eggs. We found them dry and ... just too much.

Is a boutique hotel with large rooms. No lift, so be aware if you have loads of heavy luggage - part of the stairway is a spiral. Try to get a room at the front of the hotel. Our room was at the back and faced on to a rock wall which made it necessary to have a light on at all times. Only one street behind the main street. Does not serve food except breakfast but it has limited facilities so breakfast choices reasonable limited.
Reception staff very friendly and helpful !

Room Tip: At front on first floor.

This was a lovely hotel in the centre of Oban. It is a very small hotel but it is furnished very nicely and modern.
The breakfast buffet had some good options, cereals, toast and a breakfast menu focusing on baked eggs and others such as pancakes etc. However not many options for vegans, so I just had toast for my breakfast.
The rooms were nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom.
Only negative thing is that the walls are VERY thin, and you can hear the noise from the street outside very clearly. Not such a big problem for deep sleepers like me but may be bothersome for others. Overall though, I think it’s a lovely hotel for a short stay :)
