Courtesy of an Itison voucher deal we enjoyed a wonderful two night bed and breakfast with dinner on first night break. A great welcome and subsequent service from Irene and her team. Our room was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and with a good en-suite including bath.

Breakfasts were as good as they come and inclusive dinner was so good we also booked a table for our second night in the restaurant. The menu, service and drinks were first class.

The hotel is modelled from a former private residence and has interesting period features (superb stained glass and fireplaces) and a welcoming, cosy ambience.

Room tip: Rooms in the original house are de-luxe and more expensive but we found the annexe to be more than adequate - we'll be back

There is something reassuringly traditional about the Links hotel. None of your new fangled boutique nonsense here, this is how hotels used during to be 30 years ago when service, cleanliness and a warm welcome all counted. Staff are friendly, the public areas are tidy and definitely not modern, food is plentiful with menus that avoid anything too healthy. Bedrooms are a good size, every switch works, beds are comfortable, wardrobes have plenty of hangers and the bathroom does its job - a small sink and a shower over the bath as hotels used to be! We ate in the restaurant for dinner - portions are old fashioned big and everything is well cooked. Any menu with profiteroles as a dessert choice will do for me. Breakfasts are similarly full fat with lots of local dishes and everything is freshly cooked. A lovely hotel with standards as they used to be. Wonderful.

We stayed here last week on our road trip of Scotland. We had been driving up the East Coast all day and finally just stopped, and Montrose is where we ended up. We walked in to see if they had a room available at the Links, and they did. We opted to get a king suite, and everything was very nice. (Except the comfort of the bed, but I think that must be a European hotel thing in general.) It was within walking distance of the main highway to get dinner and drinks and we didn’t mind the walk.
Breakfast was included, and the staff let us come in and eat even though breakfast ended in 15 minutes.

Very nice old fashioned hotel. Spacious room. Excellent restaurant. Bar has limited choice of beers.
Good location within walking distance to town centre . Staff went out of their way to help with with any queries.

This was our second stay. Hotel main building is beautiful. We were in the new part this time. The room was spacious, warm and spotlessly clean. The bed was the comfiest I've ever slept in and huge.
The only downside was we were above the function suite where there was a folk group evening on and it was noisy. Would ask if there was likely to be a wedding/event on when staying so that you could be in a quieter area.

The young lad in the dining room was very professional and polite. All staff were friendly.

There was a slight delay in getting our evening meal even although restaurant was quiet. One meal was fine but other was disappointing( special curry). Seemed quite pricey too for what we had.

Would go back-very good location for town/beach etc. and plenty to do in the area.
