We popped into Old Blackfriars for a late lunch after attending a film at nearby Vue Picture House. It was around 3 pm and he place was empty. The food was served very quickly by the very friendly barman. It was god but nothing exceptional. We have eaten at other outlets in this chain in the past and felt that the prices were much higher than elsewhere. There are better places to eat in Aberdeen and I would be tempted to try other places.

I was wanting to have a great Scottish pub experience and this place delivered it beautifully. Honestly, one of the highlights of my trip to the UK. I had contacted them ahead of time to find out about the live music for the evening and they were very responsive. Appeared to be mostly locals when we were there, I enjoyed a nice scotch while listening to Conor Riordan play some traditional tunes (he was fantastic). All in all, just a perfect evening.

We had lunch at Old Blackfriars 52 Castle Street, Aberdeen.
Cosy, Friendly Staff.
Our two friends had the Pensioners Menu, Both had fish and chips and a good portion too. We went for the Main Menu. Next time I go back I will be going for the Pensioners Menu because of the good value. They start at £3.45 and go to £3.95. Fabulous value for money. They have a desert and coffee and thats another good deal on the same menu.
Its not often that you get good value for money but this is a winner.

If you’re looking for that perfect Scottish pub experience, look no further. The place is warm and inviting, the food is wonderful and the staff is top notch. Great fish and chips, burgers, great beers and scotch, of course. We met fun folks and it has a nice family atmosphere not like some of the seedy pubs we have wandered into. Went twice in two days! Cheers!
