This was our fifth or sixth visit to the Old Barn and Porth-y-Parc.
The setting is exceptional, the accommodation beautifully designed and the welcome from Roz and Pip is always wonderful.
This year we added home reared pork to our regular lamb and hogget order and it was delicious.
It snowed, and we were snowed in for a couple of days, and found ourselves in a real winter wonderland.
Endless supply of logs and snug cottage made for an extra special stay.
We'll be back!
We were attending the food festival as a family group and was looking for a cottage which would accommodate us in comfort while being near to Abergavenny. What we found in the Old Barn exceeded our expectations. Exceptionally well equipped, very clean.
The Old Barn is only a short drive to Abergavenny, a reasonable walk into town....bit harder on the way back! It sits in outstanding country side overlooking Sugarloaf from the patio. Great walks all round. Some excellent pubs and restaurants within a short distance.
Roz and Pip are really helpful and welcoming. Around but certainly not intrusive.
When you visit be sure to try some of the lamb from the fields surrounding the cottage.
It is difficult to add more superlatives than are already written about The Old Barn. We have stayed here 4 times now and cannot find fault with it. The location is fabulous, beautiful walks straight from the door, yet the town is less than 5 minutes drive with great eateries and shops. The accomodation is immaculate with everything you could need and great touches like fresh eggs, homemade cake, fresh flowers and a lovely bottle of wine to greet us. On top of that the owners Roz and Pip are so genuinely kind and friendly and always make both us and the dog feel extremely lucky to be here.
