I stayed at the management centre for 4 nights, it was very close to the BBC where I was working and not too far from town for places to eat, the reviews looked good so I selected this one.
I was aware that it was part of the university so expected to be surrounded by loads of students and this was as expected!
There are lots of university buildings about and this is one of them. The walk here from the station is moderately taxing, Bangor is one of the hilliest places I have been too, more so than Derry in Northern Ireland! Getting into town is a big downhill trek and then an uphill slog.
Once I arrived, I wasn't totally sure where to go but didn't take too long to figure out, it's an unusual layout and very much a-typical to a hotel. Check in was efficient and all good. The walk to my room was pretty lengthy...
Through a door, down a corridor, down 1 floor in a lift, through a connecting corridor, into a lift, up 2 floors, up some stairs, to my room on the far end of the 3rd floor. I took a wrong turn more than once when coming in or going out.
Noise was fairly minimum but there was a bit of banging from time to time and loud voices in the middle of the night outside one night.

It was a good room with views over the Menai straight and high up in the eves, shame about the trees blocking the view, I would imagine in summer all you can see is leaves and it would cut down the light a lot.
Room is of a good standard, unusual for an Executive grade room not to include a bath but this was of no bother and I found the shower to be very good, though hot water is a bit lacking in the mornings. The room had two radiators which I could control individually on the valves.
There was a sofa in the room but facing the bathroom door so you couldn't watch TV from it, unless you moved it, the TV was too small and old for my liking, a 4* grade Executive room should have a big TV, i'd expect 32" minimum.
Reports of Wi-fi being unreliable I felt were a little unfair, I found it generally ok, wasn't great by any means....i was on the eduroam wifi....however....it worked well on the laptop, just asked me for the username and password when connecting but on my android I had to manually change authentication settings to get it working....the average person may not know how to do this....no instructions for this given and the helpline is only open 9-5.
Standard tea and coffee making and toiletries in room, had lovelly big bath sheet towels, always a favourite of mine, bed was massive and very comfortable, curtains kept out most of the light, plenty of plug sockets.....even had a bluetooth/usb clock radio.
Ordered room service once, no tray charge and the haddock and fries was delicious! Had breakfast every day and found this to be of good standard, staff were friendly, especially impressive was the older chap running it, very friendly and efficient.
Value for money could be better but the options in Bangor are limited, price was ok, nothing more.More
