Met up with an old friend at The Broadway for an overnight stay to enable us to catch up in person since we live at opposite ends of the country. Broadway has very limited parking so it was a bonus that we were both able to park in the hotel's own secure car park. Although the room was a little cramped, there was plenty of storage space. The bathroom was small but adequate. Anyone with mobility issues should check ahead that they are not being allocated a room on the top floor, since the stairs are steep and not brilliantly lit. But the staff were kind and moved our cases for us. The building is steeped in history so the slightly quirky layout is easily forgiven. The highlight of the stay was, without doubt, dinner in the main restaurant. Service was impeccable, food delicious, good choice of wine and the ambience of the two-tier restaurant was excellent - all at a reasonable price. When we returned for breakfast the next morning, the experience was just as good and the daylight shining through the glass roof changed the mood of the room. Would certainly return.

Room tip: Older guests and those with mobility issues might like to request a room on a low floor as the staircases are steep.

Lovely stay, great food and service. Recommend the room we stayed in which was Desert Orchid. Arrived on a really sunny, busy bank holiday and it was great to see the bar popular with locals and residents. There’s a lovely garden / terrace out the back for when it gets busy at the front. We really enjoyed our stay - especially the fantastic breakfasts and selection of gins!

Just got back from a lovely 3 night mini break here. We stayed in one of their dog friendly rooms. It was a small room but cute and cosy and luckily we had a small dog. It was very homely and we loved our little patio area with table and chairs overlooking the hotels gardens. Our dog loved it and enjoyed running around on the lawn in the mornings.

All we can say is that we had the most relaxing weekend here. The weather was cold and wet so we loved sitting in the Jockey Bar in the hotel drinking beer and cocktails whilst our little furry one was curled up on his bed by the fire. Their cocktail menu had lots to offer and the bar staff were always happy to offer anything that wasn’t on the menu. We only ate from the Bar Menu as you can’t take dogs into the Brasserie but we were pleasantly surprised with how great the food was! Everything we tried was so delicious. They have an amazing chef!

Breakfast in the mornings was absolutely superb and the staff always brought a sausage for our dog which was such a nice little treat for him.

All the staff are lovely and and it literally has got to be the best customer service we’ve received in a long time. Everyone was so friendly and you could tell they loved working for the hotel. The hotel itself had so much character and was kept very clean and pristine at all times. We actually couldn’t believe this was only a 3 star hotel! It deserves 4 stars at the very least!

We hope to return with family later on in the year with and stay in one of their cottages.

An important note, if you want your dog to stay with you here then you need to ring the hotel to book. They charge £15 per dog pet night and only have 4 rooms which are dog friendly.

Thank you again to everyone at The Broadway for a wonderful break.

On the off chance we stopped at the Broadway Hotel for a spot of lunch. I was initially surprised that there were quite a few empty tables as it was a nice sunny day, but we all ordered the Roast Lamb and drinks and within 15 minutes the food arrived.

It presented very well, Lamb cooked pink and a side dish of vegetables. The lamb was succulent and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. (I hate veg that is under-cooked or 'al-raw' and not al-dente!!). The service was spot on, friendly and appropriate timely check-backs. We all admired the decor of the hotel and it had a really nice cosy feel. We would certainly recommend this hotel and we will even book a weekend away at some point based on our experience of eating here. Well done to the team.
