Had a friend from South Africa spend the day with us and he wanted to have a pub lunch by the river. My wife suggested The Terrace at Oakley Court. Good choice!! The restaurant is in the grounds of the hotel, right by the river. It has a limited menu but we chose a fisherman's sharing platter followed by fish and chips for the men and my wife ate a Caesar's salad. The sharing platter was good, the fish was excellent and my wife enjoyed her salad. The Chilean sauvignon blanc was very good. Lovely setting, good, reasonably priced food. A lovely way to while away a couple of hours at lunchtime on a sunny day.

We stayed here two years ago and loved it but what a difference. Rooms look tired now although the grounds are still lovely. Breakfast was chaotic - queues at the toasters and the waffle maker and ran out of baked beans ( sacrilege). Husband disabled so had to fill in a risk assessment form in case of emergency. Requested wheelchair assistance in case of fire not expecting any disasters but then did have to evacuate rooms just after midnight! No assistance arrived so just had to make our way out slowly. Sat outside for about 20 minutes in our nightclothes- it was freezing before blankets arrived then we were let back into our rooms. Won’t be returning.

Dear lynmchazel,

Thank you for your recent review. I have spoken with the Night Manager who informed me that after attending the incident and making sure it was safe, he noticed that you and your husband had already safely evacuated. Admittedly someone should have checked that everything was okay with yourselves and I apologise that no one did so. I am sorry that you do not wish to return to The Oakley Court, I can only hope you will join us again.

Kind regards

Great place for weekend treat. Package included dinner which was superb, staff helpful and attentive. Grounds very pleasant to walk around, riverside especially. Location ideal for sightseeing in Windsor and Great Park. Large rooms with enormous beds. No negatives at all.

Room Tip: Worth paying for upgrade to river view

Stayed here for week long training and had quite amusing time running past corridors to reach various rooms setup as part of training. Place has lot of character along with space to amuse any age group. Food was fine though nothing to be appreciated. Staff were helpful and views were wonderful.
Age showed on the building with doors having chips on them and windows being hard to pull down. Also taps had no mixing and were too close to spill water over the counter. Call it city dweller not being able to adapt to rural settings.

Room Tip: Rooms on West wing are quiet and get good view of grounds and river.

Having stayed at this beautiful hotel previously, we didn't hesitate to return at the next opportunity. This time we had our 2 boys with us (5 & 2) and we were all made to feel very welcome.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly doorman and reception staff who all gave our little boys attention and smiles and they were given a little welcome pack each.
We stayed in an adjoining room in one of the buildings off the main building, connected via steps and corridors (to the delight of the little ones!). Although the rooms decor is a bit dated, they are huge and have everything you could need for a short stay, including a very comfy king bed!

We went into Windsor for the afternoon/early evening and when we returned, there was milk, cookies and children's dressing gowns left out for the boys which was a lovely touch!

We had breakfast included in our stay and it was amazing. You get access to a lovely little kitchen larder that has every breakfast option you could ask for, from fruit, pastries and cereals to full cooked breakfast and a waffle station...

We also took advantage of the pool access on arrival and in the morning after our breakfast. It was great as we were the only ones in there at the times we visited and the boys loved it. There is a safe shallow area for the little ones as well as the pool noodles for little one learning to swim to use.

Before leaving we took a walk around the beautiful grounds and the boys enjoyed it as much as we did. The grounds are perfectly kept and immaculate with loads of room to run around and explore.

We'll certainly be returning in the summer to make the most of the grounds and enjoy some food and drinks on the terrace...

Dear Carl G,

Thank you for your review following your family stay with us. I am very pleased to hear how friendly and welcoming your arrival was and hope your two little boys enjoyed their kids pack!
I am happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed your room, the children's milk and cookies are certainly a nice treat to settle them down at night.
The breakfast pantry is a favourite for many, with plenty of selection for everyone. The waffle station is a personal favourite!
It is clear that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us and took advantage of our location and what The Oakley Court has to offer.
We look forward to welcoming you back again this summer, hopefully the sun stays put and allows you to try our outdoor Terrace Restaurant.

Kind regards
