I booked this hotel in advance because I am a legal and had to be in Birmingham Crown Court for a couple of days.
An hour before check in a Lady calls to inform me I must have a letter from my employer identifying me and the reason for my travel. OK so we all support covid rules etc but really this should have been flagged up BEFORE booking. Yes they know if they did so no one would book. I stay in hotels all the time and no one has asked for a letter.
The problem is that she was arrogant and genuinely could not care a less. No letter no stay. I asked her to call the company or email them for confirmation. Noway not her job letter or no stay.
I told her I would ensure that all the companies I worked for were made aeawre never to book the Copthorne Hotel again. She said thats really no problem at all.
She then informed Booking.Com that my card had been declined.
IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS TRAVELLER AND ARE BUSY AND YOUR CO IS REMOTE WORKING AND YOU CANNOT GET A LETTER WITHIN ONE HOUR THEN DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.
INFACT NEVER BOOK IT AGAIN.
I will ensure that all my companies never book this hotel again and goodbye arrogant customer services.
