“They should shut the bar during a performance!”
Review of City Hall

City Hall
Reviewed 3 May 2018

We went here last October to see London Grammar – an excellent concert even though there wasn't much legroom. BUT we were a bit surprised at how many people were backwards & forwards to the bar all evening getting drinks during the concert, & found it very off putting! To be honest also a bit rude - especially as some people were actually clambering over seats! We are more used to the bar closing during a concert or show & people not able to come & go all night, so not quite what we expected & not impressed!

Had an ok evening. Seats are very cramped and it was so hot in there. Not much atmosphere really seeing as we were at a Bryan Ferry concert, but then it’s not the O2.

Lovely old building but very dated decor inside and in need of some tlc to restore inside and parts of the outside. We have attended concerts at Sheffield City Hall which has been restored and is a magnificent venue.

I felt it was quite sad that they have allowed this building to decline in this way

Here again this time to see Dara O’Briain. Sound not great and security measures have moved on from handing over soft drink tops when you go in to now not being allowed in at all with any plastic bottles - shame that’s not obvious until you’ve wasted your money. Suggest this is made much clearer in all pre-show information.

As the City hall had said doors opening at 7 imagine my surprise after watching wave after wave of fellow comedy goer's passingly for 40 minutes, to be queuing round the block at 7:45. despite being asked for tickets 3 time they were not inspected or looked at.
The strange bag search, looking for contraband, (but unsure what contraband when questioned) seemed pointless and only handbags were looked at not bulging coat pocket.
Overall a great show
