The location has its up and downs - literally. Being by the Tyne is lovely and the views of the bridges from our room were wonderful. But the walk up the hill, or steps, into town is not for the feint hearted! Check-in was very jolly - the receptionist was bubbly and good fun. Our Townhouse room, 429, was a corner suite with floor to ceiling windows and the view of the bridges. It has a large bedroom with an exceptionally comfortable bed, and decent hanging/drawers with a hair dryer, slippers etc. The separate sitting room has a sofabed which we didn’t use but which could be use for another couple, The bathroom set-up is perfect if there are 3 or 4 in the room with a bathroom off the bedroom and then a shower and wc off the sitting room. So 3 wash-hand basins! Very mean towels - awful. They are no better than dishcloths. In the sitting room, there is a TV with gaming equipment (although I have no idea how to use that sort of stuff). Nespresso coffee machine and a little fridge with a few drinks in it (shame there wasn’t a better selection of booze). A table and 6 chairs - so we had our kids visit (who are at Uni locally) for drinks. The lighting, like so many hotels, is a bit limited so leads to a darkish room at night. A couple of extra lights would be good. That said, we loved the room and are about to book it again. I have Meliá status, so have a 20% off voucher leading to a very reasonable room rate of about £200 a night. Excellent value. Top breakfast too in the Gino D’Acampo restaurant downstairs.

Modern hotel right on the riverside and well located for city centre attractions. Rooms were airy and well laid out and ours had a great river view. Service was friendly and efficient and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Hotel parking very limited but there is a public car park next door.

Dear calivingstone,

Thank you for your review.

We really could not be happier with our location on the beautiful Quayside which is really close to all of the city's attractions and shops. I am more encouraged however that the service you experienced form the team matched the location!

Hope to welcome you back as a return guest in the future!

Thanks
Calum

Loved staying here. Room was stunning. Amazing views and décor - nice extras. Service, especially in restaurant was excellent. Everything pristine just a couple more towels needed. Stayed in for room service because the room was so nice and the food outstanding from Gino D'Acampo team.

Everything was great apart from the fact that the floor has not been cleaned for our stay . Reception staff was very friendly and made the check in and check out process very smooth. Bed was really comfortable and the room was modern and had everything we needed for 1 night stay. Location was great also . Lack of parking is a slight downside but we found one nearby . There could have been few more sachets of tea , coffee and milk in the room but that is not a big deal :) .

We stayed in a spacious and spotlessly clean balcony suite with fab views of the bridges over the Tyne. Well designed room with small fridge, yoga mat, sofa and table and chairs. All staff very friendly. Had excellent supper in Ginos. Our 2nd stay in a month. Hope to be back soon
