Value for money, this hotel is the best hotel I've stayed at. I will most definitely be staying again for my next visit to Newcastle. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was really clean and modern. The restaurant was exceptional. Everything about the stay drastically exceeded our expectations. Looking forward to staying again.

Room Tip: Pay for the larger size and you won't regret it!

Stayed here NYE 5 couple late 40's - 50's , booked back in October and the hotel tried to cancel all 5 rooms one week before NYE due to having a non group policy , even though we were couples. After a week of wrangling and heating discussings with thier management and booking.com who backed us they allowed the booking . I then got a call from thier manager Rebecca who was extremely apologetic and said they had got thier infomation wrong and as a apology would upgrate my room as lead name and leave some nice gifts in there .
On arrival rebecca was on holiday and had of course not done anything about this ! hadnt event left a note to say she had been in contact !! they very unpleaset man on reception was less than helpful and asked it to leave it with him . We went for lunch on 97 & Socail which was very nice , good food , pleasenat staff and nice decor in the bar.
When we went back to check in a lady was on reception who knew of the issues and changed one of our deluxe rooms to standard room rate saving us £22
She had left gifts in the room , which turned out to be two boxes of Chocolates , one being out of date ! which were given back on departure !
The bedroom was one step up from Student accomoation , Bed was a small king to say the least more of a double , the pillows were hard and they had the most useless mirror on the dresser i have ever seen ! . The bathroom was cold and the shower and odd instalation ! and we were directly above an extremely loud bar. Someone descrbes this as faulty towers, i would agree the stay was disapointing shambles, at an inflated costs for NYE
Both resturants were nicly decorated and the food was good, Breakfast was a shambles with only two staff and a full hotel, 2 staff had not turned in being new years day which cant be helped but there was no managment in site to help !
our friends waited 20mins to get in to the resturant simply because there was not clean tables and when they did get in there was no food left

Room Tip: Some rooms are above a lively bar

We stayed here for the weekend in August...the room itself is perfectly nice, as in the decoration and general facilities (the dining area is really great). A 40 min walk or quick bus journey into the centre.
We would have rated higher but the noise from the below bar was really loud at night, and there is a permanent cooking smell that comes up from the kitchens downstairs...wouldn’t stay here again for those reasons but perhaps if you’re in Newcastle for the nightlife, it would be fine!

We only stayed overnight but the staff were extremely helpful and the room was very nicely furnished and a little bit quirky. I thought it was reasonably priced and the bar downstairs did very nice food although the music was a bit loud. Would recommend a visit

We stayed at the Cairn hotel for two nights. The room we were given first had a distinct smell of sewage; when we complained, we were assigned a new room with no problems.

The rooms were fairly small, but nicely decorated, and clean. At the end of the bed was a massive flat-screen TV. Coffee and tea facilities with lots of biscuits. The bed was comfortable.

My only criticism was that the walls in the hotel are very thin; the noise from the hall way and our neighbours was distracting, and during a busy period might wake you up.
