Stayed one night with view of Quayside and castle - for the price this was amazing value. The breakfast was 10 extra but there are plenty of nearby alternatives. Clean and sound proofed - would recommend

Checked in pre paid for breakfast we asked if we could have room service being anniversary thought be nice. Took over an hour to come after being told 15 min . Rang again after 50 min amd was told again 15 min due to issues . The lady said there would be no charge but due to pre paying we had to get a refund to be told they do not have that on the system ! Typical .
Rooms are dated pillows stained yellow ,carpets threaded , no pull down shower so you have to get wet hair which you don’t want after having it curled for a night out would been nice to have a quick low shower. And was not soundproof heard every train from 6 am

We had 4 in our group and we all booked a Tue to Fri stay direct on the hotel website choosing double rooms with castle views. Parking in the small hotel car park adjacent to the hotel mid week was OK - we had one car. Thursday night there was no space so we parked in the pay at the meter spaces adjacent to the castle (free 6pm to 8am) or £1.50 per hour and max 4 hour stay. We paid a little extra for the castle view rooms which was worth it. The higher the floor the better the view. Reception of this hotel is on floor number 6 so rooms start from floor 7 up to floor 11. Noise wise the rooms were very good considering the hotel is located at a major railway junction outside Newcastle central station. Railway enthusiasts will be delighted at rooms of floors 10 and 11 on the castle side with good views. We had dinner in the Maven restaurant one night and it was very good; better than expected; our group have all dined in a lot of hotel restaurants. Very reasonably priced too. Rooms could do with a little updating but are good for the price - the mixer taps and showers over the bath need to be upgraded and a grab rail added for stepping over the bath. Most rooms seem to have showers over the bath so ensure you request an easy access room if you find stepping over a high bath a problem. Our rooms had fans as there is no air conditioning. Staying in October we found the temperature in our rooms just right but, in the summer, it may be on the warm side. We used the hotel bar most nights which was also reasonably priced, comfortable seating and well stocked but no crisps or nuts - an easy thing to fix. You could order bar food though. Breakfast, included in our room rate, was excellent. No complaints and very good service. An 8 minute walk from Newcastle Central Station, we recommend this hotel and will try to book it again when next in Newcastle.

Room tip: Best views on floors 10 and 11

Excellent hotel. The staff are wonderful so helpful and friendly. Rooms was perfect and had everything we needed. Very central, rooftop bar is great. Five minutes to walk into town centre and right on the quayside.
