The Cheese Room is located on a private, gated estate close to the Cathedral City of Wells.
The accommodation was very clean and comfortable with a full range of modern applicances making it a home from home.
We particularly enjoyed the use of the Spa facilities including the pool, sauna and steam room which we used every day. We noticed that these were almost always quiet. There was also a gym and library with comfortable seating overlooking beautiful views of Wells, and a field of very engaging alpacas.
We found that there was a walkway from Dulcote to Wells along the route of the old railway line (The Strawberry Line) with a short walk first along rural roads. We walked there and back one day with no difficulty. It probably took about 30 to 40 minutes each way but enjoying the views we weren’t counting.
We also used local taxi companies when needed. Best to book in advance if using for journeys to and from the airport.
Wells is a lovely historic city. If you like choral music I would recommend a visit to Wells Cathedral for Evensong. The Bishop’s Palace is also worth a visit and requires several hours to make the most of it as the gardens are extensive.
Glastonbury known for its ancient and medieval sites is also close by. It also has a range of shops, eating places and a market.
The owner met us on arrival and was also available if required during our stay.
