Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Great place to stay for walking and cycling
Good location with great views of the Shropshire Hills. Handy for the station at Craven Arms and close to walking and cycling routes. Close to Shropshire Hills Discovery centre, a good place for information on the local area. The cycle storage is very good. Chris and Rob made us feel very welcome. This is a great place to stay for a couple who'd like a walking and/or cycling holiday with beautiful scenery.

Beautiful and comfortable place as a base for exploring the area.
We loved this place - the Dairy was carefully and beautifully designed and had everything we needed for a week away. We were lucky with the sunny weather so we did not stay inside much. It was an easy walk to the station so we did not have to use our car much at all to see the area. The Dairy cottage itself was clean and tidy and nicely laid out. The small en-suite bathroom has been designed well so it does not feel cramped. We found that the living area had plenty of space for 2 people. There was parking space on the large courtyard immediately in front of the cottages and access to 2 separate small gardens with seating so you could, if you wanted, sit outside without looking at the cars! The cottages are set well back off a quiet lane just outside Craven Arms, with an easy walk to the train station (20 minutes from the front door to the platform, allowing for time to wait at a level crossing!) We'd definitely recommend this lovely place.

Not whay we expected
“Very disappointing only saved by excellent weather which meant we could keep the door open.” 눉 Kitchen/diner/living space only 12 ft x 14ft. No table and chairs as per photo breakfast bar with two high stools No settee as per photo, two IKEA chairs now worn and go back beyond the comfort zone we used pillows and cushions to compensate Only view was into the courtyard Very overpriced, compared to other properties with bookings ,com and other local properties £290/300 would have been fairer 눇 Property was clean and well designed given that it was mid terrace in a space that had been a garage for two cars.

As The Dairy was recently awarded a Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor and our reviews have an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 Stars it is disheartening to learn that your experience was so different from other guests. We will however, expand the description of the kitchen to differentiate it from the larger Byre cottage, the image of which should not be included for The Dairy. The IKEA cushions were replaced only last year but we appreciate that the rocker/semi-recliner chairs are not to every taste but appropriate for the cottage and there have been no previous complaints. However, we will bear your observations in mind at our next update.

Lovely tranquil retreat
Small but spotless apartment with all necessary conveniences, plus home made cake and milk in the fridge provided by the helpful and friendly owners to greet us on arrival. Great location if you value peace and quiet, but also convenient by car for Ludlow and other local towns.

Delightful in every way.
We couldn't think of a better accommodation for a cosy couple. We had a lovely stay in The Byre at Highgrove Barn. Excellent location for exploring Shropshire for walking and cycling (lockable cycle storage included). Rob and Chris took great care in the finishing touches (underfloor heating was amazing!).

A short break
We booked a last minute 2 night break in early August. The barn was very well equipped but much too small for our requirements. When we visited it was warm and we asked if we could open the skylights. We were advised these were not normally opened except when the owners did a deep clean. On opening the bathroom skylight the wash basin became full of debris, which we cleared. We were warned about this but even so it was August and nice to have some air. We then did not bother with the one in the tiny lounge area. To keep the door open as it was so warm we had to prop it up with a cardboard box! The only good thing was the lovely garden where we were able to BBQ and eat outside. We thought it was overpriced and would think twice about returning as we felt it was quite claustrophobic inside. We were grateful that the weather was kind to us.

We are sorry that The Dairy barn did not live up to your expectations. We will re-consider our policy on skylights and security in our ground-floor properties following your feedback, although we have only had one other person in twelve years ask for the skylight pole which is available on request. The unaccustomed Floridian weather during your short stay was we guess a factor in your assessment. The shower room has an automatic air extractor which has been found more than adequate for ventilation. The Dairy is our smaller barn and is only for two people. We recollect you informed us that the cottage you prefer to stay at is for four and much more spacious in a stand-alone position. Both our Dairy and Byre cottages are attached former barns with natural limitations on space but have been carefully planned for comfortable one-bedroom accommodation at reasonable prices. Just before your late booking the couple who stayed in The Dairy rated us five stars, as do 99% of our guests. They are long-time HPB bond-holders who take several breaks a year and rated us as equal to the properties they regularly stay in with HPB which is the gold standard in self-catering properties. We have, ourselves visited their award winning resorts and we were honoured by the favourable comparison. We take all comments very seriously as we have retained our four-star Visit Britain rating since we opened and our TripAdvisor reviews do we feel speak for themselves. However, there is always room for improvement in any service and we will be looking again at our policy.

A cosy 'home from home'
A very enjoyable stay at this well appointed converted dairy which accommodates two people! The property is situated down a lane a mile away from the town? Everything we required had been thoughtfully provided for. Situated in a quiet and private location next to the owners home and with parking space included. Two outdoor seating areas are also available and cushions provided. Can recommend as a good holiday location choice!

Lovely place, lovely people, great weekend
Lovely cosy cottage with owners who couldn't possibly have been more helpful, or nicer! And the welcome tray including delicious cake certainly went down well :) Although we had booked to stay in one cottage, when rob & Chris realised that the larger cottage would be more suitable for my friend with mobility issues, and was available, they didn't hesitate to set it up for us, add an extra bed and help move our luggage. They are happy to add items to make life easier for people with mobility issues, so worth asking about this when booking. Nice peaceful location. Very highly recommended, we had a lovely visit!

A lovely little cottage
We received a warm welcome on our arrival to The Dairy. The cottage itself was lovey and had all the things we needed in it. The milk and the cake were a nice touch. We had a lovely stay and will hopefully be visiting the cottage again in the future.

Valentines secret getaway
I am so happy we stumbled across Highgrove barns, such a lovely place to stay. Everything you needed. From baking trays to make cookies to heated flooring. We had such a lovely weekend. The company obviously makes a special holiday but we couldn't have found a more lovely place to stay. Such kind owners to the extent of sending me my charger through the post due to leaving it behind after our short break. The cake was lovely and having milk fresh in the fridge was perfect for our cup of tea we were ready for on arrival :-) shops close by and a lovely Chinese. You are surrounded with stunning views.

About the neighbourhood
Within a few minutes drive are Cardingmill Valley and Church Stretton, known as Little Switzerland and Ludlow, reputed by many to be the finest medieval town in England. Famed nowadays for its Michelin starred restaurants it still holds its ancient street markets several days a week and annual culture and food festivals centred around its magnificent lofty castle. There is however, no necessity to travel far for good food as pubs and restaurants serving a range of mainly locally sourced foods are within easy reach . A Rare Breeds Society butcher, a rarity in itself, is based in Craven Arms. Ancient churches abound in idyllic towns and villages as well as modern, lively places of worship in local communities. Ironbridge's World Heritage sites are a half hour drive away close to Telford, with its shopping malls and large town attractions. North and South along the A49 are the county towns of Shrewsbury and Hereford respectively. Craven Arms itself is known as the gateway to the Marches, as this Welsh border country has been referred to over the centuries, and many villages have Welsh names although nowadays firmly in England. We warmly invite you to come and sample the hospitality and friendliness of this relatively undiscovered, but stunningly beautiful part of Britain, and to stay with us at Highgrove whatever your interests and at any season of the year - this is truly an all-year-round holiday place.
