We had an evening meal here and it was fantastic. The best we had on holiday. We I’ll definitely look to go again and try and book one of their rooms to stay in.

We visited the restaurant during our holiday while staying in Burford. We had dinner twice there during the week. The whole experience was fantastic. The food was delicious, the staff super friendly and accommodating. Great place to have a great evening.

My sister, I and 5 month old nephew booked dinner for our final night in Burford. The staff were welcoming and considerate of the pram and baby sleeping. They were very helpful as the little one is allergic to soy, eggs and dairy which makes for often very limited dinner options! They didn’t make a fuss, checked with the chef and even checked the wine was vegan. Our meals (seabass answer the vegan pie) were absolutely delicious. The doors were all open which made it feel a really COVID safe environment. Thank you to the kind and friendly staff.

On staycation in the Cotswolds we were based near this attractive small town. We took a walk from our B&B in Asthall (2.8 miles away down some lovely country lanes) to pay this visit to a town I have driven through, and past, on many occasions. On arrival in Burford, which is quite a ‘touristy’ town (principally aimed at Americans) we had a good look around and decided that this pub-hotel was a good place to have lunch.

This pub is on the High Street in the midst of the shops and has a small but pleasant al fresco dining area on the pavement at the front, plus a small enclosed courtyard at the rear. As we were still quite warm from our walk we decided to eat in the bar, and sat in a window seat overlooking the bustling street.

We ordered a pleasant Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which was served well cooled, and sipped this whilst we studied the menu. We both wanted to have something light to eat; as we were conscious that we had a reservation for dinner at the restaurant at our B&B. So, fish was an obvious choice.

My partner had the Oven Baked Salmon salad: the pesto sauce was excellent and adequately coated the beautifully cooked fish, which was served piping hot. The cooked courgettes and asparagus were fine. Some leaves in the salad were well past their best and were a bit slimy: these obviously had not been properly checked and sorted from the source pack.

I had the Brixham Fish and Chips – beautiful Cod, served hot, but the batter was slightly oily. There were not many chips, but enough for a light snack which is what I wanted: other, more hungry diners, would have felt that the serving was a bit mean.

The tartare sauce served with both dishes was a bit bland for our tastes.

Service was pleasant and efficient, and the meals were not too expensive at circa £15 each.

We completed our visit to Burford a short while later and completed our 2.8 mile walk back to our B&B.

We arrived on Saturday to attend a wedding in Aldsworth ( we had left the car at the venue, in order to to enjoy a few drinks without the kids ), and awoke from a great nights sleep to enjoy a hearty breakfast!!

feeling carefree from out 24 hrs as just ‘us’ without the kids, we went to book a taxi to collect our car ( yes I know we left until a Sunday to book!!) to find after ringing 10 taxi firms, we were not going see our car ever again

With rising panic ( for the poor friends looking after our kids) super hero’s Scott and Kirsten from the Highway Inn sprang into action!! Scott’s amazing partner went out of his way to pick us up and drop as at our car… true kindness!!!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ♥️
