This hotel is perfectly situated for York Racecourse but its only a fifteen minute walk to the riverside area and the centre of York. The rooms are quite plain and simply furnished but are kept very clean and tidy and have tea and coffee making facilities. The included breakfast is very good with a wide choice to choose from. The parking which is along an alley, Mill Mount Court, behind the hotel can be a little difficult to find if you haven't been there before. The best thing about this hotel is the team that run it. They are so helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I always make this my first choice when staying in York.

Just back from a trip to York for the Ebor race meeting where we stayed once more at the Wheatlands Lodge hotel. Once again we were welcomed like long lost friends. This is a family run hotel and they most certainly go the extra mile to ensure that everyone has a great stay. Rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels. The breakfasts are cooked to order and your every request is accommodated by very friendly and helpful staff. Evening meals are also extremely good with either 2 or 3 choices available for your main course. The hotel is ideally situated about halfway between city centre and racecourse. All in all we had a great 5days and have already booked again for 2019.

We visited York for my birthday & Booked into the Wheatlands Lodge for 2 nights.
Breakfast is ok.. there’s a certain member of staff that comes across as rude each time we visit, which makes breakfast an unpleasant experience.

The second night we awoke at 4am to a few wasps in our room which eventually turned into around 10-15 wasps! We went downstairs & woke the night manager who handed us a can of ‘raid’ so we had to spray the wasps ourselves. With a room full of raid in the air & lots of agitated wasps flying around we then went back downstairs & asked to stay in a different room. After lots of faffing we were eventually given another room to sleep in. Not a great experience this time. Wasps nests can’t be helped but they must’ve known about it outside of the window. Maybe a warning to keep the window closed would’ve been nice.
Disappointed.

This is a family run establishment located on a quiet and attractive residential street outside of the heart of the city. Our room and private bath were both spacious and very comfortable, and the breakfast served each morning was ample and satisfying. The staff was gracious as well.

When we first entered our room, it did appear very utilitarian in contrast to the charm of the building itself. However, this quickly proved itself to be of little consequence. The reader must bear in mind that it will be a brisk 10 minute walk into town from this location, but the pricing will no doubt reflect this. We were very happy with our stay and would recommend this establishment.

I had a 2 night stay at the Wheatlands Lodge Hotel whilst on a coach tour. Overall it was a pleasant short stay. The hotel is well situated within a close walk to the city walls. The bedroom was neat, clean and well furnished. It has beautiful gardens at the front of the hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Some negatives are that the room was very small. The bathroom was tiny and unfortunately not very clean (also has the tiniest shower head). The breakfast buffet was very small and basic and could do with more choice (food allergies not catered for either)

Overall however it’s a pleasant hotel to stay in if you’re passing through York and are not looking for anything too fancy.
