Some interesting artefacts to have a look at. I visited many years ago without really knowing the history of the collection, but there’s information about it now. The Victorian Street is great. In the other part of the museum the 1914 - 1918 war exhibition is also good, if a little grim, but I suppose such a horrific time should be covered this way. I wasn’t overly impressed with the prison exhibit. There were some pre recorded filmed telling the stories of some of the inmates and keepers. I think it’s something I’d have preferred to read, given there were some noisy school kids around, so I couldn’t always hear what was being said. I wanted to investigate the “condemned cell”, but wasn’t clearly marked. Also disappointed that the corn mill wasn’t open, wasn’t clear if it’s something that still in operation or not.
