The weather was not very good, so we saw this restaurant Tapas Brindisa and decided to try it. I have to say the food was lovely, the service was good, the staff were friendly, but the price was absolutely outrageous!!

We had a Gin & Tonic £10, glass of wine £6.45 3 tapas dishes (and we need to ask for bread to go with them) Total bill £51.69. This was not a 3-course A La Carte meal it was just 3 small starter tapas plates! As I said above it was all lovely but when our bill came we were furious. Plus they included a £5.74 service at 12.5%!!!

compared to other tapas restaurants we’ve tried. Loved everything we ordered, except we were disappointed that the gambas hadn’t been deveined, we ate them anyway but it was off putting. Wine is quite pricey with no full bodied reds under £37 - but the one we choose was very good. The seating along the back wall is extremely uncomfortable because it’s too high and slopes up towards the knees. The waiting staff were all really nice and friendly, although one thing that we found odd was when the barman accidentally served us a red wine sangria instead of cava, he acknowledged his mistake and then poured it down the sink! If throwing it away anyway, why not give it to us to have as well as the correct one? – It would have made such a positive impact if he’d given the drink to us, on the house, rather than chucking it away. Not that this spoiled our dinner, we just couldn’t understand his logic.

My experience was really only just about worth 4*.

It does get busy at lunchtimes and that is bound to affect the service. My waiter was perfectly nice when I saw him - which wasn't often.

The food was really very nice with good strong authentic flavours. But the portions are mean - there was literally one bit of prawn with one rice dish. Which makes it expensive - particularly once the bill comes with all the 'discretionary' extras (12% service charge and then VAT on top of the lot).

Enjoyed a superb and memorable lunch of ham croquetas, cecina air dried beef with cheese, potatoes with garlic alioli, arroz negro black rice squid and alioli, and monte enebro goat cheese and honey, all presented over 30 minutes in no particular order. Had a Pinna Fidelis red wine and my partner had a Cana Estrella Galician fraught beer all for £60 including tip. Pretty nice and filling but we did have to ask for bread. Waiter could not understand or speak English at all which was authentic for a Spanish restaurant!
