During a recent visit to London we stayed at the Grand at Trafalgar Square. Regardless of anything else for a typical tourist the location is ideal. There are many attractions within easy walking distance. There are performing arts theaters close by as well as subway entrances. We did not eat at the hotel's restaurant because there were many options in the immediate area. Really all you need is nearby. For some unknown reason although we didn't need it they put us in a handicap accessible room. We did not complain or ask to be moved, so any inconvenience is really our fault. The room however, was spacious with ample storage space, but particularly drab and unimaginative regarding decorative appointments. The bathroom was designed to accommodate a wheelchair, so any comment or criticism may not be reflective of the standard room's bathroom. For security purposes you need a room key to activate the elevator. We didn't depart London until late our last day there and it became a bit inconvenient to have to ask for a card key to access a bathroom since there are none on the lobby level. Also there is absolutely no accommodation for sitting in the small lobby so as we were waiting for our ride to the airport we sat in the bar area adjacent to the lobby. We were a bit abruptly told that if we weren't ordering anything we had to move. This seemed a bit ironic since the bar wasn't open at the time. Regardless of that I would recommend this hotel as a place to stay while in London.

My family and I had such high hopes when we booked our rooms at this hotel as our base for a long weekend visit to London, well disappointed isn't the word, the staff, if you could find them, were at best inept and rude, but that paled into insignificance when it came to the fellow gusts......more like a Jeremy Kyle show guests reunion, we would've had a more pleasant time at the Pontin's in Southport AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Dear Mad John,
Whilst we do take exception to your describing our delightful guests as 'Jeremy Kyle contestants', as a responsible business we wish to ensure all of our customers have good memories of their stay. Therefore if you are a genuine customer, I would urge you to contact the hotel to address any concerns you might have had.

Having stayed in many hotels in the U.K. I can honestly say the staff at The Grand are truly the best by far, so friendly and helpful. The guest service manager, Ophelia, is genuine in her approach in wanting your stay in the hotel to be a pleasurable experience, and it was, along with the whole staffing team who have the same friendly and helpful attitude.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. Close to everything you need, from tube stations being just a stone throw away, oxford street shopping is just 2 stops away, the hotel is in the centre of everything you need which ever direction you choose to venture; Buckingham Palace, Westminster, London Eye, Covent Garden, Leicester Square....all the main core and exciting areas.
You won't be disappointed, whether your planning a social or business visit.
I Highly recommend The Grand, this is where I will be definitely staying when I need to stay in Central London.

All expectations met. Very satisfied with all aspects of the hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful and the accommodation excellent. The central location was an added bonus being close to the theatre we had arranged to visit that evening.

Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and London Eye were all within walking distance. Right in Trafalgar Square. Plenty around to do. Clean room and environment. Great price. Would stay here again the next time I visit London.
