This was the second time I stayed at a Z Hotel, the first being about two years ago in Soho, so I knew about the tiny room size. That wasn't the problem for me; instead, my low rating is based on two other things, both fixable:
1. The Food
2. The Staff
The Food: Previously, at Z hotel Soho, the breakfast was quite good. There was a nice variety of food, all fresh, changing daily, and as I recall, some hot options they would prepare for you. So for this visit, I prepaid again, and it was a disappointment. There was a very limited selection of food, mostly just different types of bread, which on some days was stale. After the first day, I would not have come back, except I had prepaid for the pleasure of eating here.
The Staff: I won't get into the details of the surliness of the staff, aside to say, this seems to be a reflection of management. I'm guessing here, based on her blazer and the way she communicated with the rest of the staff, but she was very unpleasant and rude, and that attitude was reflected in her staff. The one staff interaction that was pleasant was when she wasn't present, and I was checking out. I was politely asked, "will we be seeing you here again?"
Doubtful.
Both of these problems are fixable, and it could make this place a more pleasant place to stay, but for now, I would avoid it. If you are considering this place for a stay, I would wait to see if the reviews improve over time. For me, I will not be back.
