Description: Drakes Tabanco is a traditional tapas restaurant and wine bar that feels properly Andalucian. This hidden gem in Fitzrovia has received many plaudits from the food and wine press since its opening in late 2013. Lively, authentic and unpretentious. Highly Recommended.

We wanted somewhere to eat before the theatre.

We all like tapas our favourite being Barrafina [ but you can't book a table ] so we decided on Drakes Tabanco.

We were not disappointed!!.
The staff were friendly, helpful and the food very good.

My only criticism was it was a tad expensive for what it is. I guess that's London for you, particularly theatreland!

We chose this restaurant because it looked a little different. The décor was nice, interesting paintings on the wall and the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing.
We ordered tapas mainly, although there were plenty of other things on the menu. The waiter/owner was very helpful and the dishes were all fine, nothing standout but all OK. A number of the tapas dishes were quite different combinations of flavours and so a bit unique in that respect.
Overall the meal was good - but the only real negatives were the prices. All a little bit expensive for what it was we thought - the final bill was a surprise to everyone. Of course the alcohol was also expensive which did not help. Disappointing.

Me and my partner were wandering around the area for some snack, and we found this Spanish place, ordered Jamon iberico de bellota and the seabream ceviche, so tasty. We will definitely recommend this place to friends.

Arrived at 8:30pm on a Thursday to be told that they had completely run out of bread. Not the biggest issue, but nice to accompany tapas. Food was varied (olives were too heavily marinated, octopus accompaniment wasn't great, but meatball were delicious, as was the sea bream and the tuna tartare). House red wine was very drinkable, although the bottle was almost hot to the touch when served, so we had to keep it in an ice bucket for a little wine before enjoying it. At almost £100 for two people, its not a cheap meal. I think there are probably better tapas places in the London for the money.
