Perfectly ok for a one night stay

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Sept 2019via mobile
We stayed one night and prefer apartments to hotels as you get more room and catering facilities. Disappointed that on check in after 4 we were told housekeeping still wasn’t finished so had to return after 5. We did request a later checkout which was no problem.
Our apartment was ground floor. The decor was very dated but it was clean. The main bedroom was tiny, literally bed sized but we used the other bedroom for our luggage etc.
It was very quiet overnight but you do hear people in the other apartments once they start moving about.
Parking is free on the street at weekends and it’s a short walk to Hammersmith tube and High St.

This is a very charming and well managed establishment. Kitchen is fully equipped and you'll even find some welcome treats. Our unit had a lovely big terrace. Everything you need really. Well located too, 5 min walk from Hammersmith Station from which there are direct routes to just about everywhere.

I don’t usually write reviews but our experience warrants this one. If sleep is important to you read on. Piles of vomit in street led the way to our front gate. Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 5 nights. Main front window to street could not be closed properly let alone locked and curtains there broken. Curtains in both bedrooms had to be pegged to limit light entry into room. Master bedroom with double bed not big enough to fit suitcases in and en-suite bathroom mouldy. Neighbours doors closing and people walking would rattle window in master bedroom and shake our floors. On our last night - a Saturday night a party cum orgy complete with mobile drug deliveries by scooter raged in apartment below us and in backyard courtyard near our bedroom window. No sleep from midnight to 6:00am at which time we needed to rise for an early train. Our Apartment stank from booze and drugs by the morning. Rang after hours number for accommodation provider during the night but only an answering service. Still waiting for a reply to the message we left and complaint made at check out. You might get lucky and not find yourself at 131 Hammersmith Grove but Just beware that this accommodation is not well managed. Would not recommend.

I stayed in a basement apartment with a beautiful garden with two teens for a week in late July. The apartment is well appointed. However if you have heavy luggage, be careful as there is no lift. The washer did not function at first. However the management fixed it in very prompt manners. Appreciated.

I then stayed in a studio of "Room 2" after the two teens left for summer camp. It is again very well appointed. Exceptional clean and spacious. There is lift access. My studio is on 4/F and without air con. Only an electronic fan is provided. I could not sleep well because it was too hot.

The apartments are conveniently located within 10 minute walk from the underground. It is a quiet, safe and beautiful district. If you are a vegetarian, the Gate Hammersmith is just 10 minutes away. Definitely a plus and you can't miss!

Stayed for one month but had to move twice. Broken washing machine in the first apartment and cockroaches in the kitchen of the second apartment. Lamington moved us to a smaller flat with less facilities (no dining room table, only high bar kitchen surface that isn’t practical with a toddler, smaller living room area etc). Not only did it have less facilities compared to previous flats, we ended up in a flat directly in front of an extremely loud, late running and early starting, TFL tube depot. Not fun with a 2 year old who’s trying to sleep. The flat also had much narrower stairways and entrance hall compared to the previous 2 Lamington flats, which now meant I really struggled to go up and down with the pram and my 2 year old. It really didn’t seem fair that the issue was on their side but we were downgraded to an apartment that was completely unsuitable for us. Manager was not able to understand this and stated “a 2 bed is a 2 bed” Very dismissive.

Receptionist was lovely but ultimately manager did not make reasonable allowances to provide suitable accommodation for us after their problem with cockroaches and broken washing machine. Manager did not appropriately compensate us for the disruption of 2 moves and uncomfortable (to say the least) stay in a the final flat.

The last apartment was not maintained to a luxury level. The loose wood panel in the hallway fell on my daughter as we were leaving the building. She’s 2 and my responsibility, but ultimately you don’t expect part of a wall to fall down as you are taking a few seconds to put up a pram.

We were offered a move towards the end of our month stay but moving again was too much for the little time we had left and would have been further disruption for our
2year old. An appropriate move should have been organized at the time we left the apartment with cockroaches.

Not all bad as the first apartment was lovely, with well equipped kitchen and spacious living room area.

BUT 2nd apartment had a kitchen full of cockroaches and 3rd apartment definitely didn’t have a kitchen equipped to cook a Michelin Star meal as their website claims (I had to request baking tray, mixing bowl and vegetable peeler to get basics needed for meal prep) 3rd apartment not maintained to a level you would expect for luxury apartment (damp smelling bathroom, broken furniture, loose nails and screws, loose panels in wall, not all windows lock securely).

I would not book again or recommend, especially not if you have young children.

Dear Christopher,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us. Your feedback is very important to us and we value it greatly.

Please let me apologise for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay with us. I am deeply disappointed that we did not meet your expectations this time. This is not the standard of service we aim to deliver and we are assessing our procedures so these type of issues do not happen again in the future.

Please let me assure you that the problem on the second apartment was a one off due to the high temperatures we are suffering in London this summer as this is the first time we have had this kind of visitors in any of our apartments.

Your comments regarding the third apartment kitchen equipment and maintenance have been passed on to the relevant departments so they can take the appropriate measures.

I really hope that these issues have not permanently tarnished your perception of our apartments and I wish you could give us the opportunity to welcome you and get things right on your next visit to London.

Kind regards,

Alvaro L.

We stayed for 4 weeks in the Lamington in July as a family. It is important for security reasons to stay in an apartment in the 2nd floor or above as we experienced a nasty break in on our first night in a ground floor apartment. Lamington apartments were excellent and moved us but we advise all people (especially if you are staying in this area of London with children) to book their apartments on the 2nd floor and above.

Room tip: Do not book rooms on the groundflloor service apartments as they are prone to break ins

Dear Samuel,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on your stay with us. Your feedback is very important to us an we value it greatly.

Please accept my apologies for the issue you and your family experienced while staying with us. This is a very familiar and quiet neighbourhood and I am sure that your unfortunate experience was a one off as we do not usually have these kind of problems here. We are nevertheless assessing our security procedures in order to prevent this from happening in the future.

It was a real pleasure to have you with us and I really look forward to welcoming you on your next visit to London.
