Not worth it

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 19 May 2024
Inexplicably listed as 4 star on Google and TripAdvisor, when it's much closer to 2 star. Reception isn't open 24 hours, only 8am-9pm usually.
Rooms are tiny and bathrooms are very cramped, and all furnishings and amenities are quite low quality. Shower sprayed everywhere.
Location is decent, with lots of restaurants, fast food joints, and shops nearby. The tube is a free minutes away and a bus stop is even nearer.
Date of stay: May 2024
Room Tip: Front desk is only open 8am to 9pm. Avoid getting locked out outside those hours ;)

A long awaited birthday weekend in London for my wife and I was not what we expected for what we paid! The room, small, but to be expected in London, wasn’t clean and had several faults.
1. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. We both had bad backs for the weekend.
2. The blind on the window had no fixing and the cord was all knotted. It was hooked on the window catch, and not adjustable.it was either down or you needed to open the window all the way up, to secure it open.
3. The bathroom sink didn’t drain away properly, and my guess is the plug was clogged with goodness knows what.
4. The bedside cabinet and the phone in it were thick in dust.
5. Lots of lights didn’t work, ie wardrobe, in the shower, under cupboard in the kitchen and bedside.
6. There was an unpleasant smell in the wardrobe.
7. The cushions on the bed smelt bad, so we left them outside the room for the weekend.
8. We could hear the upstairs toilet being used (nice), and the vibration from the washing machine.
The shower looked nice and had a nice big shower head, but it needs descaling as it didn’t have much power or direction.

The good bits
1. Good location for walking out or tube stations
2. It was a nice kitchen, and was well enough equipped. Although I couldn’t understand why the mugs were placed in the cupboard on top of the dirty extractor fan.
3. The manager delivered a bottle of wine for my wife’s birthday.

We tried to mention these problems, but there was either a language problem or a lack of interest. Our two complaints were met with a shrug of the shoulders and a simple “OK”. Nothing done about any of the issues.

We won’t be revisiting, and even though we have made our thoughts known to Booking.Com, they weren’t interested either

On first blush, seems modern and clean. However on closer inspection, there were a lot of small maintenance issues that showed a general lack of concern for guests. In our bathroom, there were shelves with sharp edges; both my daughter and I were cut on them. The bathroom was so small that you couldn't avoid brushing up against them. Someone had written "Go Pack Go" on the glass of the shower, no telling how long since that shower was cleaned thoroughly. (We didn't write it and are not Packers fans). Also the shower was in desperate need of calcium/lime removal; water sprayed out all angles and had almost no pressure. It was the worst shower of our two week trip thru the UK/Ireland. Washer/dryer combo is basically just a washing machine because your clothes will never get dry. After an entire day of trying to get them dry in there, I laid everything out on chairs & such & turned fans on them. We had only 2 dishwasher tabs and they were sitting in a puddle of water. Steps up to loft for the 2nd bed were extremely steep and had open backs which my kids hit their feet on multiple times, and the bed was small, definitely not queen size as advertised. Ridiculously low coffee table that was only good for barking your toes on. Would not stay here again.

Very pleased we chose this for a one week stay. Like an airbnb, but with a concierge/security at the front door. If

Very good base for visiting London. 5 min walk from Circle Line (Bayswater) , 10 minute walk from Central Line (Queensway); easy walkable access to local groceries, drugstores, variety of pubs and restos.

Clean, well lit, recently renoed bath and kitchen. In room laundry (our unit had a shared drier in the hall). Good water. Basic kitchen, well stocked with dishes, pots, etc and dishwasher. Air conditioning not working, as other reviewers have noted, but not really an issue with 12 foot ceilings and a fan even during a London "heat wave".

Entry and hallways clean and well lit, with fast modern elevator. Front door to street locked at all times (your room key opens it). Quiet at night, we hardly heard other guests. Front desk staffed early morning to 9 pm, with someone on-site and on call overnight. Very helpful and responsive to questions. Room cleaning, linens exchange etc by staff weekly or on request.

This Apartment hotel is just great! We chose the hotel because of the location, which appealed to us due to it being near to several tube stations and to Hyde Park. The area was quite calm, with a mix of both hotels and private residences.
The premium room has a fully equipped kitchen, with a refrigerator and a dishwasher, a dining area, and a well sized bathroom. There is even a washing machine in the room.
The air-conditioning was lovely, as we had some warm and sunny days.
The staff was helpful, and assisted us if we needed anything – that being advice or anything we needed for the room.
As other reviews imply, the bed was quite firm, and this might not appeal to all. But we did not mind.
If I had to say a little negative thing, it is that the door is not very soundproof, so we could hear people in the hallway moving and talking. But as there is only five flats on the floor which we were located, there was not a lot of traffic.
Will absolutely book again.
