Not the best

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 29 Sept 2019
Stayed here for one night while away on business.

It started well. I had a friendly welcome. Was met by the manager who showed me to my room which was located in the basement.

Now this is where things started to slip. It all felt a bit grubby. I had bars on my window (see image) and everything was dusty.

Having read the other reviews it might be that I was just unlucky with my room.

On a positive note the shower and towels were great. It is also in a good location close to the tube and a good selection of shops and eateries.

Pros : Good location, just near Kensington Park / Kensington Palace. 2 tube stations nearby, next to buses. 15 min walk to Notting Hill. Plenty of supermarkets and restaurants (some excellent) nearby. Very clean. Has everything for a week-long stay (but space). Friendly and helpful staff. Fully-equipped kitchen (fridge / freeze drawer, washing machine, dish washer). No regrets whatsoever. Great place to stay. Houses two on vacation. Would definitively house one person even for an extended stay (for instance work-related). Recommend it warmly !

(Tiny) Cons : Quite tiny. Bed maybe on the soft side, not large. Bathroom & shower really really tiny. Rain shower, but no hand shower. You wouldn't want to stay indoors too long (if not on your own). But all this pretty much made up by the plus sides.

Room tip: You probably want to avoid basement (because basement) and groundfloor (because of traffic) (except the one that is in the back) rooms.

Nothing to complain about! We had a really nice and clean room with small kitchen and even a washing machine. Very convenient location!
Very friendly staff. You can leave your luggage there even when you’re already checked out. Would totally stay there again on my next trip to London!

We had a very comfortable stay over 2 nights. The manager who showed us to our room showed us to our room and gave an intro which was just right and set us in the right mood immediately. It's close to train stations (tip: take the lift at queensway station) and good food options. Shower area was a tad small but we managed. Bed and room overall were comfortable. We would stay again for sure.

A small hotel in a lovely neighborhood facing a classic London square, with one block distance to a street with every type of business, restaurant, café and grocery store and a very short walk to multiple subway stations or bus routes. The rooms in this hotel vary significantly. We had a choice of two triples and they were extremely different. The second floor rooms where ceilings are much higher are better, as this has a major impact on the amount of light and feeling of space. We were very pleased with the second level triple room we had in terms of space, bed/sleep quality and the bathroom and I am very happy it was available, as our stay may have been very different in a different room. The only issue we had was with the disaster of a washer/dryer, and I later read this was more common than not. Because there is nooone at the desk early AM or in evenings, it would be wise to plan accordingly. The washer in our room could not spin water out and the dryer did zero to dry clothes. Totally nonfunctional. This caused us a lot of last minute pain where we had to bag up wet clothes to carry on a plane. Because there is no 24 h desk, any disasters with the appliances in the early evening cannot be addressed, so be aware it is best to use an appliance like the washer/dryer during hours where someone is around to help. The hotel was apologetic and informed us they were fixing the appliance in that particular room.

As noted elsewhere by many reviewers: There is no daily maid service, so if you need that, you may want to reconsider this choice. If not, it is really a great option for London.

The hotel is surprisingly quiet, considering the age of the building and floors. Then again, this could have to do with the floor you stay on as well.

Altogether a great choice for this area of London.

I stayed at Space Apart for 8 nights. It is located in a great location, close to two tube stations that can easily transport you around London. The room itself is not serviced/cleaned daily but that is clearly stated when you book. It in more like staying at your home where you have the same sheets and towels for a week which didn't particularly bother me. My only real complaint for me was the noise. I could hear the TV of the person next to me into the wee hours and the person on the floor above me walking around until at least 2 a.m. - (perhaps jet lag?). I was on the street side so cars, people talking and the trash collectors were quite audible. If noise bothers you I would bring ear plugs perhaps as a back up. Other reviewers didn't seem to have the noise problem that I had so maybe it was the location of the room and bad timing with the other guests that were present. The room itself was clean and small by American standards but certainly adequate for the trip.

Room tip: Ask for a room if possible not on the street side
