We met to celebrate a special birthday and were very happy with both the venue and the food. It’s a lovely dining room with high ceilings which don’t affect the acoustics as we were able to hear each other perfectly around the table. We had the set menu which included a cocktail and four courses. As you would expect the size of the courses were small but nicely presented and were very good quality ingredients. The main course only has a garnish of vegetables so we ordered some sides, be aware these are priced around £5 per dish, we found that one order of broccoli was enough for two people. The only downside was the cost of the wine, we ordered house wine but it was £48! However it was a nice dining experience and the staff were very attentive without being intrusive.

Husband & I met my sister-in-law here for a belated birthday meal. We'd booked this as a special treat as we'd just arrived from the US and it was only the 3rd time they'd met up this year.
Fantastic setting in the hotel, spacious restaurant with old school glamour feel. Cocktail to start with sloe gin was delicious. The food was of an excellent standard, we all enjoyed everything we ate. However, there was about 45mins between finishing our starters and our mains arriving! The staff didn't make any mention of it, until we queried it and they said it was on its way.
Our guest had a train to catch at 10pm in the station there, but we became concerned that we were then pressed for time; which with a 7:30pm reservation really shouldn't have been an issue!
The mains eventually arrived and were perfect. We then were gifted a palate cleanser (lemon curd, black currant sorbet) by way of an apology for timings, which was a kind gesture. We then ordered desserts; keeping an eye on the time, my sister in law ordered coffee & truffles for dessert, knowing that she might have to run for her train, of which we advised the staff. The kitchen then sent a happy birthday plate to the table (again free) which was a really nice touch.
Luckily the coffee arrived, gulped down and a baggie asked for the truffles and our guest had to leave just as our desserts were arriving.
My husband & I then ate our scrumptious desserts and asked for the bill. When it arrived, there were 3 extra drinks on there that weren't from our party!
Whilst the food was excellent, we were disappointed by the timings and the stress it put on what should have been a relaxing and special meal. The staff admitted there were kitchen issues and the lack of attention re the bill was grating for this calibre of establishment.

This is certainly a restaurant were you shouldn't rush, the food quality was very good and the wine selection was amazing. We tried some British sparkling wine which was as good as any French Champagne. The atmosphere is relaxed, despite it being very full. Our table ordered a different main dish each, and sampled each others food and I can say everything was delicious. The desserts were also amazing. One to try again for Dinner.

Totally amazing! First of all to be sitting in the kitchen in the middle of a busy Sunday lunch service but to have such attentive service - thanks to Valentina and all. What a wonderful experience and the food was amazing. 5 courses of deliciousness. Excellent wine and just a great experience. We were a table of 6 who all love our food but this was a truly spectacular experience. I highly recommend the chef’s table. Also just take time to enjoy the beautiful architecture as this is a special hotel.
