Being a local for years, Cannizaro House has always had a great reputation in the area, but everything changes as soon as you walk in.
Staff are tired and seem to lack the will to work, they also seem to be constantly changing. Not sure what the management is thinking but clearly don't really care...

Food is of quality and the building itself is great. If you manage to get your food served before is cold (even the starters, my mushroom toast was cold) it will be a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: Many more places in the village to go to

Just had afternoon tea and what a complete waste of money. The savouries were tiny, 5 tiny bits on a plate and no offer of top up. The cakes and scones were brought out at the same time as savouries with candy floss dripping onto the plate. Cakes were tasteless and tiny and the scones were dry and left a horrible aftertaste in my mouth. Had to wait ages for the waitress to reappear so we could order more tea which was very weak so had to ask for additional teabags. Not once did anybody come to our table to ask if everything was ok, very very poor service. Do not waste your money as for £25 per person it’s very poor value for money. Pay the extra and go to a classy place like The Ritz etc.

We just came for lunch as we tend to go out somewhere different on Fridays. Three of us has steak which was tough and grissily. We told the waiter but he didn't say anything but "sorry about that". My friend mentioned that the steak knives were useless and blunt as well. We were light on the puddings (ice cream) etc and the bill was £200! Won't be going back any time soon.

Room Tip: Didn't stay, only had lunch.

Lovely venue and very welcoming staff. Complimentary Aperol Spritz to start then a buffet table of starter selections, cured meats, prawns, scotch eggs and salads.
Two of us chose the beef and one chicken, the beef was melt in your mouth and the chicken was very moist. I would like to see more vegetables and roast potatoes but it was all well cooked. Desserts were delicious. Altogether a lovely lunch.

What a fabulous setting in Cannizaro Park. This hotel could be 5 star. Sadly, it barely makes a 2 star in my opinion. With just a few exceptions, the staff is sullen and unhelpful. The food, with a very few exceptions, is dreadful. The service is very poor with the rare exception of Elaine at the front desk. The suite was very nice but the bathrooms were fantastic.

Room Tip: The largest suite has a wonderful balcony.
