We paid and walked gangway onboard. You get an audio guide and can wander around at your own pace. You can follow the arrows and press the appropriate number to get the story about each area as you go. The history is just amazing and you get stories about life on board and roles played by particular crew members which bring the history to life. There are 9 decks to visit and numerous ladders and hatches from the engine rooms to the gun turrets to the admiral’s bridge. Don’t rush. Take your time and take care. There is a cafeteria onboard. Wonderful afternoon spent on board.

I understand that the money goes towards maintaining & restoration etc but £17 per person entry felt expensive. Obviously lots of steep steps too between decks!! Glad I did it but I think a tenner would’ve been an acceptable charge. I won’t go back.

We had a fantastic time exploring the HMS Belfast with our 2 boys, 8 & 10 years. Easily spent 2 hours navigating the 9 levels of the ship. Kids get a certificate for spelling their name in Morse code, which was a nice touch. Manned by volunteers.

We visited as a family of four and as we travelled by train we took advantage of the 241 offer.

Really informative and gave us an insight to what life was like on board. Both of our boys age 12 & 15 enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it although it might be difficult to get around if you have mobility issues or very young children as the steps are very steep!

You are allowed to roam free on the ship and see the life of the sailors on board the ship. There is a free audio guide, so you can take in as much information as you wish. Different areas are well signed and life size models demonstrate living conditions. Some places are very cramped, ceilings are low and the ladders can be tricky, but that adds to the experience.
