Walking around the beautiful grounds of St John's Gardens behind St George's Hall there are many monuments and memorials, Cheshire Regiment Association Memorial is an unusual memorial in the garden area in that besides a memorial there is also an oak tree planted in their honour.
The monument reads " this oak was planted by Major General P.L.De C .Martin C B.E. on behalf of The Birkenhead & District Branch of the Cheshire Regiment Association Sunday 21st April 1996 .
In Tribute to the memory of the citizens of Liverpool & District who made the supreme sacrifice while serving as members of the 22nd ( Cheshire ) Regiment. "
The monument and tree add to the joy of walking through the gardens and are easily found in St John's Gardens behind St George's Hall along William Brown Street.
