Located behind St George's Hall in St John's Gardens you will find many monuments and statues, one of the most eye catching is The Monument To The King's Regiment.
Renowned sculptor Sir William Goscombe John was responsible for this monument, with the figure of Britannia as the centrepiece with either side of her troops in mouning of this famous British infantry regiment, the monument is in honour of the fallen in campaigns in Afghanistan ( 1878 - 1880 ) Burma ( 1885 - 1887 ) and South Africa ( 1899 - 1902 ) ,its a wonderful and very poignant memorial, all the figures are well detailed, its such a very photogenic monuments, makes for some great photographic opportunities especially with St George's Hall as a stunning backdrop, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate in the grounds of St John's Gardens along William Brown Street.
