Description: The Warren Restaurant is an extension of The Crowborough Estate, holding stock of Sussex cattle, Boer goats, Fallow deer, and Wild boar among others which the restaurant draws on for its menu. Given the provenance, the kitchen predominantly cooks British food, occasionally dipping into other cuisines to provide a vehicle for flavours - nettle gnocchi for example, or poached oyster with wild boar chorizo. Chris Fitt and Martin Haymes wanted a fun and informal restaurant, to offer their Crowborough Estate's produce from. When the site of the renowned Signor Franco's became available, with those iconic arched windows of its orangery and glorious terrace overlooking the Spa town, the stage was set. The little-bit-quirky, but altogether classy decor reflects their creative touches. For some the restaurant has become a destination for special occasions but The Warren is casual and relaxed all the same. With the Game season about to start - we look forward to seeing you.

We went the Warren, super last minute last week and had such an amazing night. We called on the day (a Saturday) not expecting to be able to get a table but we're told we could have one if we came in early and it would be ours for the night, perfect for us and super accommodating. We arrived early and we're shown to our table right beside the window in their cosy conservatory style dining room.

The staff we're great from start to finish, top-class service without being over bearing, very attentive and friendly.

The food was really good, we had homemade breads and butter followed by an amuse bouche that was delicious. I got the bream and my partner had the beef, which was lovely to hear that the meat is all from the Warren estate, both great dishes, perfect portion size and delicious sides (there was this smoked romanesco hummus thing that was divine and I'm dying to make myself!)

The only thing that let the meal down was the wine, and only slightly at that I think it was just a bit overly spiced for our tastes, the Spanish Rioja (I should have made note of the name). My mistake really as I was eating fish so the pairing wasn't the best.

I could not recommend this place enough, there was a pianist there from about 7PM playing the likes of the Fray and other popular music that really just made our night, we sat for hours and didn't feel rushed at all. It really was the perfect location for a date night with your significant other.

We value all feedback and thank you for leaving this review. Date Nights are really a 'thing' in RTW, clearly romance in the rolling Kent countryside is alive and well. There must be something in the water...

We're glad you enjoyed your meal with us and the beef and bream are very popular indeed, especially the Chef's surprise Cottage Pie that accompanies the dish.

We buy our wines directly from small importers and with the current fluctuations in the exchange rate, this has led to some of our wines increasing a little bit. We'll do our best to keep our prices as stable as possible over the coming months.

We look forward to welcoming you both back soon.

We had the pleasure to return here a couple of weeks ago on Saturday evening, this time coming as a group of five. From the welcome to the moment we left we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The piano is a lovely accompaniment to the atmosphere and unique (I can't say I've tried every restaurant in RTW though!).

Food was good - I had the lamb. Desserts also v good (I remember there was a problem in the kitchen so they didn't all come at same time but this wasn't really a major issue).

I feel I must compare it with The Ivy given how close it is and I was fortunate to eat there on a Sat night in August and what is nice at The Warren is that you're not nearly shouting to hear one another.

The Warren is not cheap a eat on a Sat evening but I don't think that's the point of going. It's relaxing, has understated elegance and good service. Highly recommend (again as per my other reviews!!!) and will keep returning

We're so pleased to see you each time you visit and appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. These reviews really help all independent restaurants stand out from the Brands on the High Street.

We change our menu constantly, bring new dishes on when the seasons allow - and our guests tell us they enjoy the flavours and the fact they know where we source our meat from.

In particular our guests who have dined at the Ivy say they like the fact the table is theirs for the evening, we don't have multiple sittings on Saturdays, meaning you can enjoy your meal, the wine and most importantly the time you spend with family, friends or that someone special.

See you soon.

Had a great time celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary. Food was superb and good sized portions, didn't need to worry about getting any extra sides. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. The pianist played an excellent mixture of modern and classic tunes which all added to the ambience nicely. After our meal we had a quick drink in the bar area, met and had a great chat with the owner. Thank you to everyone for helping us celebrate our anniversary in the best way.

Happy 5th Anniversary. We have entertained many couples recently celebrating their: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 17th, 23rd and 40th anniversaries. Thank you for dining with us and we're so pleased we made your evening extra special.

Chris our pianist adds a touch of 'Old School Glamour' to the evenings, as does Caroline who plays on Fridays.

We look forward to welcoming you both back and before your next anniversary we hope.

It was about time that we tried a fairly new Tunbridge Wells restaurant. We had booked for the most popular time (7:30) but were called on the day to request that we came earlier as it was a full evening. Whilst that's a reasonable request it should have been known when we booked, not on the day. However, we complied and were given a warm welcome before 7:00 and seated at a window table in what I will call the conservatory. Although this may be a good spot in summer it proved to be rather cooler than expected in autumn. Having come earlier, and on reflection, I would have preferred another table, particularly as the restaurant area wasn't actually full when we left just after 8:30.
We knew that the menu is more limited than most places as it majors on local game (wild boar, venison, beef) all of which were enthusiastically promoted. Happily there were some alternatives so we chose from that selection. My scallops were very good and my wife appreciated the salted turnip starter which she described as having the texture of poached pear. For mains we both chose fish - one blackened bream and one hake in seaweed butter. We enjoyed those despite apparently being outside the game specialities. For dessert I had the 'poached pear bakewell' where the 'bakewell' turned out to be rather like a pork pie pastry. However, it was also good.
The table service left a little to be desired at times. Our bread was nearly whisked away when the trainee should only have taken the plate for the amuse-bouche. The bill was offered after collecting the dessert plates. This was welcome but the fairwell macaroons were brought as we were making our way out rather than when the bill was presented!
Overall for us, although the food was quite good there was a too restrictive menu, not great table arrangements and service hiccups, we'll probably not go again unless we learn of improvements despite its current rather high TA rating.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We're sorry your evening with us wasn't the success we strive for. Rather than go into a list of reasons why we fell short, we'd rather have a conversation with you and find out more and invite you back to try us again.

Our menu of 5 starters and 6 main courses has been a feature since we opened. We seek to balance the offer with Fish, Game, Red meat and Vegetarian dishes, we clearly didn't hit the mark for you on this occasion.

We do have our Duck coming to the menu very soon - and we look forward to welcoming you and your wife back.

I wanted to thank Chris Fitt and his team for such a great evening. We were looked after from start to finish. The food was excellent, delicious scallops to start, followed by venison and bream.
We will return and hope this customer facing approach will continue as a consistency is so important time after time and is lacking elsewhere in Tunbridge Wells

Thank you for leaving this review and we're delighted you enjoyed your evening with us. The Scallops are very popular and the Warren X.O powder intensifies the flavours beautifully.

We're now firmly in the Game Season, so make sure you return soon to try our Venison. We about to have our own Duck coming onto the menu as a main course, we can't wait!
