“Perfect Country Hideaway”
Reviewed 10 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a trip around the UK. The accommodation itself is well appointed with a very comfortable bed. We were self catering, and while there is not a proper kitchen, there were still all the facilities you needed to prepare a meal. The owners are really welcoming, and we were provided with a loaf of freshly baked bread and a bottle of wine, which was a lovely surprise. The head space is a bit limited over the toilet and bathroom sink. If you were reasonably tall it might be an issue for you, and we also had problems with the wifi, which only worked for the first hour. Also, make sure you contact the owners to get directions before you set out. The GPS takes you to another property further up the road, so it was a little difficult to find, particularly with no mobile reception. If you are looking for a secluded country retreat this is the perfect place. If we lived in the UK we would be back for sure.

“Little by name, large by welcome.”
Reviewed 2 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We stumbled across this little gem after a friend of mine recommended the holidaylettings site when I mentioned we were looking for somewhere reasonably priced, but not a soulless big name hotel - something with character.

Well, the little loft delivered in spades!

From the moment I made the initial enquiry, to the point when we headed home, Kate and Rob were welcoming and amazing hosts.

We are a couple travelling with my 6 year old son - all of us keen outdoorsy kind of people, but I thought I'd check to see what local attractions there were, so emailed Kate. The reply was like something from a travel guide - extremely comprehensive, and tailored to our needs - brilliant!

We arrived, and were blown away by the place - the photos don't do it justice. The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful (compared to Milton Keynes at least), be prepared to travel to get anywhere - be it by foot or by car.

The accommodation itself is virtually faultless - in fact, the only thing I can really fault is the headroom, but I test that anywhere being 6ft 7. The bathroom is certainly 'bijoux' - but perfectly functional - it certainly provides a perfect environment to practise yoga poses! Nice shower - plenty of hot water!

We were sceptical about the cooking facilities - the multi-cooker in particular. However, it was brilliant, so good in fact that we're considering getting one ourselves for when we go camping, very versatile. It would be tricky to cook a full-blown roast, but for our cooked breakfasts, it was more than up to the job.

The kitchen felt homely straight away - the little touches, like a jug of milk in the fridge, fresh bread on the counter, little jars of condiments (including Marmite! :0), and everything you need. Even the coffee was stored in the fridge! Kate even apologised for not leaving us a bottle of wine for our arrival (she left one for us whilst we were out exploring on our first day though!).

The local pubs are friendly, and the food is decent (if a little bit expensive for what it is), but travel further afield and you have lots of places to choose from to eat - or take a picnic.

A really relaxed and thoroughly lovely stay. We'll certainly be back! It's a perfect little stop to go off and explore the local landscape.

“Beautiful place”
Reviewed 10 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Had a lovely stay, beautiful surroundings and Rob and Kate were both lovely. Cannot find any faults in either the property, owners or surrounding area. Planning to stay again, as we wished we could have stayed longer. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Kate and Rob made the ideal hosts being relaxed, friendly, helpful to fault and unintrusive. The accommodation is filled with little touches that compliment the stunning views and we were able to store our bikes in the barn below safe and dry. Lots of access to walks with stunning views, cycle rides and horse riding. A well stocked local shop is a five minute cycle away and you can sit outside with a fresh coffee before returning. If you want to recharge your batteries this is a must and we will definitely be back. The only potential improvement would be a way of of joining the two mattresses so that they don't move apart in the night.

Thank you Kate and Rob for all you did x

Management Response
11 Aug 2015
Hi Both,
Thanks for the kind comments! We seem to have been extremely fortunate in having such lovely folk who come visiting our neck of the wood! And you'll be glad to hear, that if you decide to come and see us again you shall find (next season) some zipped together mattresses!! It has been on my mind!

All the best in the meantime

“A real getaway in the beautiful countryside!”
Reviewed 30 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

What an absolutely enjoyable stay! From the personal greeting on arrival by Kate to the freshly made bread, bottle of wine and flowers in Little Loft! This together with the peace and stunning views of the countryside, lovely walks and local pubs within walking distance made it a perfect stay for my, my partner and our dog, who was made most welcome. I would highly recommend it!
