“Absolutely fantastic, especially the hot tub even in the rain”
Reviewed 19 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We had a fantastic time. The lodge was as promised, all amenities were as described.
The bedrooms were lovely and comfortable.
Hot tub was fantastic even though it rained, but it was a really enjoyable experience.
Will return in the summer with our children.

“Luxury facilities in a compact lodge”
Reviewed 10 January 2016 for a stay in September 2015

I stayed in Forest Lodge with 2 of my girlfriends for a girly weekend at the end of Summer '15. The location was great, close enough to the local towns (by car) but remote enough to enjoy as a quiet retreat. There is a local pub which is about a 25 minute leisurely walk away. The décor was modern and luxurious, the place was spotless when we arrived and the entertainment facilities at the lodge were fabulous, plus on top of this there was a hot tub to enjoy too. The place had two double bedrooms but be warned these are small with one of them bordering on tiny. I can accept why the lodge was designed to get the most out of the space but the place felt cramped at times. Access to the property was odd as you have to walk through the grounds of the neighbouring main house (the lodge is an annex in the grounds). This meant walking through the garden of the house which on one occasion meant us 3 giggling girls having to interrupt a couple enjoying a romantic evening in their hot tub. The lodge is equipped with a kitchen albeit without a sink, which we knew before we booked and was happy to dine out. However it made washing up cups and filling the kettle in the bathroom an inconvenience. It is a lovely lodge but I would rather forfeit the technology for a working kitchen and a larger bedroom.

Management Response
17 Jan 2016
An odd review because both bedrooms are identical in size and both have king size beds, bedside tables 32" HD tvs, bose music wardrobes and nearly all other guests have found them plenty big enough one with French door opening onto the decking. It has its own entrance and access at the front and is secluded within its own garden overlooking the national park. There's a full size 30 minute cycle dishwasher so no need to wash up. But we are glad you enjoyed your stay and had a good time.

“Lovely lodge in a great location”
Reviewed 30 December 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We enjoyed our stay. The lodge is very nice and we enjoyed the experience of cooking outside. The hot tub is lovely. We would return, but most probably in the summer months.
There was a slight delay in the return of the security deposit but this was resolved quite quickly. The response rate from the owner was very good following communication via Trip Advisor.

“30th mini break”
Reviewed 22 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

Had a delightful time at the Forest Lodge.
If you like long walks, country side and beautiful views - then this is the place for you.
After a long walk, you look forward to coming back to the lodge - a hot tub, a log fire, an amazing shower, TV, and a great sound system. (my husband loved this feature).
Unfortunately, we suffered a bit of rain (to stay the least) so didn't get to appreciate the BBQ, hub tub or bi-fold doors but would have been lovely.
Just a reminder, there is no sink and the microwave is in the shed. This didn't pose a problem for us at all because the drinking water is in the bathroom and it was just the two of us.
During our stay, we enjoyed BoulderWord and Rockford Common for a nice walk and then went to the Red Shoot for a lovely Sunday Lunch. Great atmosphere, friendly service and an open fire with mulled wine and cider.
Would love to return in the Summer for longer
Thank you.
