We enjoyed a week at Newtown House, that is me, my husband and older children (13,16,20). Whilst the house is in a secluded location right on the edge of the New Forest there is also so much to do nearby and within a half hour drive. We planned an activity each day and then looked forward to escaping back to the house which was very comfortable and had everything we needed. I would recommend going to the New Forest Water Park which is very close by and Moores Valley a short drive away. We loved being up close with the New Forest horses and donkeys. They come right past the house! The children also enjoyed a horse ride with Fir Tree Farm Equestrian Centre through the forest. It is possible to walk here from the house. Me and my husband managed a long run from the house through the forest which was breath taking. Literally!!
We would have no hesitation in recommending the house and would definitely stay again.
We have just returned from staying at this cottage, last weekend. There was my husband and I, my two young kids and my in laws.
The house is in a very beautiful location, with ponies, donkeys and cows all roaming just a few minutes walk down the road. The house itself is a typical English cottage, nicely planned out and immediately felt homely. It is very well equipped, and all bedrooms were bright and airy.
We had use of the BBQ and enjoyed two nights of dining al fresco. The garden itself is just lovely and backs into heathland where you can walk for miles. The playroom was an added bonus, well stocked with all sorts of toys and had the weather but been so hot we would have used it more!
We took a walk down to Hockeys, the local farm shop and it was a real little discovery. We are at their cafe twice and the home cooked food was really nice and reasonably priced. The farm shop was very well stocked and had lots of goodies. For the kids, we met the local residents, the ponies, lamas and donkeys, as well as the birds in their bird sanctuary.
Driving off a few miles down the road, there was a lovely ford for kids to paddle in and the Alice Lisle pub was fantastic, great food, large pub garden with beautiful views, complete with a fab little kids playground.
Also worth a mention is Moors Valley Country Park, a few miles away. We spent the entire day there doing the play trail, train rides and adevture playground.
All in all, was a fantastic stay, I would highly recommend and will almost certainly return for another stay.
Thank you Johanne and family xx
This beautiful cottage is well situated near Ringwood, with its Waitrose and brewery, and has a lovely garden with outdoor seating. The cottage quickly felt at home to 6 adults visiting as it's so nicely decorated with a great eating area and cosy living room (one room is a bunk bed so probably better for children but we were well aware and happy). The games room was also a nice treat! Arriving and leaving was very simple and really made it feel like our own holiday home.
