As others have said, this is a small museum - with exhibits in one large and one small room, upstairs in the Victorian town hall. It is, however, a fascinating place, which proudly tells the story of Winchcombe's history by presenting objects made by the people who lived there (for example, there are some beautiful pieces of Winchcombe pottery on display - and many wonderful photographs of those who were farmers, shepherds & craftsmen).

The volunteer who spoke with us, Carol, could not have been nicer nor more informative. It is clear that the volunteers have worked very hard to create engaging and interesting displays, which show how rural communities thrived in days gone by.

Although it's small it has the knack of displaying its exhibits in a fashion that allows them to pack the place without appearing to do so. One tip, it's cash only

I love this museum and have visited twice. There is a fairly interesting collection of old police uniforms and truncheons etc. from around the world, but what is really special is the window into rural life in the 18th/19th centuries that the collection of local records and artifacts affords. Well worth an hour of your time if this will interest you.

visited this today whilst waiting for the bus back to Cheltenham and it is run by volunteers and costs £2 for adults and is up a flight of stairs.

It was good to see all the artefacts of local life and all the police uniforms for the UK of which some I can still remember

Well worth a visit if you have an hour ot two to spare

Thank Ann L
