Spent a really comfortable and relaxing night at this lovely hotel/ pub. The staff were very helpful and the atmosphere was really chilled. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable and the facilities were really good , we were also able to park in one of the Hotels spaces .
The breakfast was delicious we would definitely stay here again.

I was under the impression that we had booked two nights at the porch house but actually we had only booked one.

We staying for one night in the suite. It was extremely expensive for what it is. (£220 per night )The room is essentially nicely decorated but rather tired with stains on the wearing thin carpets. The bed was comfortable but the quite small bathroom was up a flight of stairs which is inconvenient and it only had a bath and not a free standing shower.
There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room but the milk was uht and for this price I would expect a mini fridge and fresh milk.
The other downer was that it was extremely noisy. We could hear the people downstairs in the pub as if they were in the same room. We called down to mention this and they were moved on quickly.

Breakfast started at 8am but when we came down at 8 the cleaner was still cleaning. (We had to take our breakfast this early as we had an appointment to get to)
Our breakfast arrived just in the nick of time and was nice but we had to leave.

On the good side The staff were all extremely nice and polite and bent over backwards to find a place to stay for the second night.

My summary would be a price review and a few tweaks to their offering and how they are running the place would go a long way!

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about your poor visit to The Porch House. In regards to some of the facilities, we are trying our utmost to get them back to standard where not good enough. Of course I can only apologise, however our prices are very competitive for Stow on the Wold, and we believe we are in keeping with similar business' surrounding us. Please do email me personally at gm@porch-house.co.uk if you would further like to discuss your visit.

Kind regards,
Nicky

Stayed at the Porch House for 3 nights and a property across the road on previous nights due to accommodation availability at this time of year. Two rooms booked, one was in the attic of the main building up 3 flights of stairs and felt quite small with slanted ceiling and tiny window, the other oddly had the wash basin in the main room- a little taken back by this for an expensive property. The bathrooms were quite small so space was may have been an issue. The rooms themselves seemed less spacious than what we saw on the website, however they were beautifully decorated and furnished with ceiling beams and character. Lovely toiletries, tea & coffee making facilities, hair dryer & TV. Wifi in the rooms was shocking but managed to get some reception near the window on occassion and no problem at street level. Lovely public areas and the staff were lovely, i believe (not sure) that this hotel is also run by the other property we stayed at and i did see a member of staff who had also been working across the road the day before.
Ok so now to the restaurant dinner! I really do not know what happened in the kitchen that night, but waiting almost 3 hours for two simple steaks, with a restaurant that was not particularly busy that night and tables who came in later were being served meals, we began to wonder if the chef was out trying to catch the cow! We only ordered the Asparagas Spears as a starter and that even seemed to take forever. The staff were very apologetic but this was such a disppointing experience. I cannot even say the steak was worth the wait and had we not been enjoying conversation and some relaxation after a full day out, with the waiter telling us it wouldnt be much longer a few times,we would have just got up and left. Also it is good to know your fire alarm works.
Sorry Porch House but for price and value the polish was lacking in some areas and am inclined to stay across the road next visit.

Just spent a very enjoyable couple of nights here. We felt very spoilt by the lovely staff and management team. This is a wonderful historical inn, beautifully decorated and with extremely comfortable beds!!!

I would definitely recommend a visit.

I had a lovely weekend here celebrating 2 family birthdays over 2 rooms. The beds are lovely and comfortable, the roll top bath is as good as it looks and the breakfast is good, but most of all the new management team are keen to make sure they can make your stay as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible. It’s like how hotels used to be before they became run by robots!

The location is right in the centre of Stow and perfect for walks, shopping and a good evening out.
