We highly recommend this outstanding holiday accommodation. Situated in the extraordinary Cotswolds, a location that really should be visited in England. Hilary leaves no stone unturned. Milk, wine, bread, butter, juice, spreads, cereal, washing powder, cd's, dvd's reading material, maps, suggested sites to see and eat and much more. spotlessly clean, ideally located, comfortable, warm and quirky. I really cant rave enough about Lavender Cottage at Bourton on the water. Don't hesitate to book it if you are lucky and its available.

We stayed in Lavender cottage at the end of June for a week with our one year old son. The cottage was very well equipped for young children with a high chair, baby bath, travel cot, changing mat and more! Hilary, the owner, could not be more hospitable. She helped with all my questions and left the cottage well stocked for us with all the essentials as well as presents for us and our son! Overall you can not beat the location of this cottage. It is in the most picturesque location, right by the village green and river and very close to all the attractions. The cottage itself is gorgeous with all the amenities you could want for your stay. I would recommend this cottage to anyone as it would suit couples and families. We will definitely be returning as we had a wonderful holiday there!
The cottage is simply amazing. Has charm and character. That is exactly what we are looking for when we decided to book a cottage. Living area is very cosy with a fire place and comfortable sofas. The master bedroom is on the second floor with a king bed and the twin bedroom is up on the attic. Kids simply enjoyed the feeling of playing and sleeping there. There is one toilet shared by all, and its on the floor ( like a mezzanine ) in between the second floor and attic. Very convenient for all guests to access. The toilet is big, with lots of space for hanging towels, putting personal items etc. and comes with a standing shower with good water pressure. Shower cream and shampoo are also provided, plus toilet rolls etc. You will not be worried about running out of anything. The entire cottage is very clean, spotless I must say. We travelled as a family of 4, with 2 young boys. It feels like a home away from home with everything provided for in the kitchen too. We did not have to rush out to the nearest supermarket to stock up the fridge. Milk, bread, cereal, sauces, juices, clean filtered water in a jug prepared, snacks for kids, herbs for cooking, jam spreads, a range of teas and coffees, hot chocolate etc, many are newly bought just for us. I can't even begin to count everything that Hilary, the owner has provided for our stay. There was so much stuff to eat and use and she has been very generous with treating her guests that stay here. Every thought has been put in to make guests feel comfortable and to just enjoy the holiday. Definitely better than a hotel and much more equipped too. There is a washing cum dryer machine in the kitchen which is perfect for doing laundry, especially when travelling with young kids. Washing detergent is provided too. Plus other essential kitchen stuff which probably are more well stocked than my own home!! Even laundry nets are available and an extra clothes drying rack. We are totally impressed with the service level of this cottage. We even had a welcome pack of two Lego sticker books for our kids as Hilary knows we will be proceeding to Legoland after our stay at Bourton-On-The-Water. Nice touch and surprise there. In terms of location of the cottage, it is perfect in every sense too. Its less than a five minute walk to town. It is actually in a quiet corner of the main town. So there are no lack of restaurants, cafes ( try the cream tea scones ), shops for tourists etc and a big Londis supermarket. We did not have to drive but walked everywhere as the town is rather small. The main attractions of Bourton-On-The-Water are also within walking distance. So the cottage is really ideal as a place to chill and take in the great atmosphere of this little town. My kids love to feed the ducks along the river windrush every morning. Its bustling, but not crowded and its simply THE PERFECT PLACE TO BE IN. We will return!
A lovely place to stay in fabulous location, four of us stayed for 3 nights in this charming listed cottage . Hilary has done a fantastic job on the property everything thought of, it's a credit to her.Bourton on the water is a magical place we didn't want to leave. There are shops restaurants and all amenities a few yards, but still very secluded.
My husband and I (age 50's-60"s) recently returned from a 16 day trip to England. Our 3 day stay in the Cotswolds at Lavender Cottage and Bourton on the Water were our favorite place and we definitely recommend it. For the Cotswold part of our trip we wanted a true cottage experience with the convenience of modern updates and that's what we found at Lavender Cottage. Built in the late 17th century it has the stone exterior, beautiful garden, and interior architecture true to that time, but also a large modern bathroom (shower only) and beautifully updated kitchen area (with granite and tile) with everything you need plus laundry etc. Not fancy, but very comfortable décor and suitable for adults and children alike. Two medium size comfy couches frame the fireplace equipped with a modern heater. Plenty of room to stretch out and great for the evening when it turned a little cold. We loved the music collection and there were also dvds for evening entertainment. The stairs are fairly narrow and twist, so it was a little challenging getting our 2 large suitcases up to the bedroom, but we managed none the less. Bedroom was pretty much filled up by the bed, but plenty of storage underneath, plus a small closet and small amount of drawer space. Not particularly spacious but again we felt this and the stairs were all part of the charm we were looking for. We did not use the 2nd floor bedroom but did remark our son would have loved it! The pictures we've seen on tirpadvisor area are very accurate. The small garden was beautiful and equipped with a patio seating area. Hilary was a great host, met us at the cottage when we first checked in and was great about checking out tourist sites we expressed interest in. Lots of books, walking guides, brochures etc kept on the book shelves. She provided us with the basics in the frig - including a bottle of wine! Felt very comfortable that she would help us with any issues that should arise in a timely fashion (none did). The Cottage is perfectly located on a village green behind the main street, in a quiet non touristy area. Parking was easy and we never had a problem getting a space right out front. Five minute walk to the middle of town, and to all it's attractiions. We were there in May so their weren't too many tourists, but they were typically gone by 2-3:00 anyway. We enjoyed sitting at the river side restaurants in the evening when we had it to ourselves Lots of good restaurants and interesting attractions within the village that were worthwhile, Dragon Fly maze, Car museum, and the miniature village were our favorites - highly recommend for both adults and families. Many other villages located close by to explore, and we especially enjoyed visiting Snowshill Manor. We wanted a village with with plenty to do and a comfortable cottage to relax in, and Lavender Cottage and Bourton on the water filled that perfectly. Our only regret was we couldn't stay a little longer.
