We booked here as a last minute get away, and the price was good.
Location brilliant.
Staff pleasant especially the member of staff on reception early Monday morning.

The Hotel needs a major overhaul, very tired looking, and needs a good clean.

Thank you for the lovely reviews regarding the hotel and staff.

I am working really hard with the owners to get this hotel up to a modernist standards. But will keep the old feel to the hotel.

As customers have noticed the changes to the hotel and I will continue to work harder to get where I want it to be.

Thank you again

Thank you for the lovely review regarding the hotel and the food.

We are all working hard to get the hotel back to its former glory and feel we are getting to a standard but keeping the old feel and look to the hotel as we are over 500 years old and have to be careful what we do to a listed building.

Thank you and look forward to your return soon

Dropped in to this hotel whilst enjoying a day in Lewis. Looking for tea and scones we shouldn’t have bothered. Nobody seemed to be in control. Having ordered we waited and watched a member of staff who clearly had had little or no training attempt to prepare the drinks. Heating the scones at the same time was obviously too much. The hot milk for the coffee followed as the coffee was nearly cold.

Such a shame as the place is ideally located to offer good Sussex hospitality.

Thank you for the constructive review Tim.
As you can see on the day we was running two weddings in different areas of the hotel.

As for the member of staff she was starting her first shift with us that day and was getting use to the coffee machines and tills but the member of staff training her was also busy dealing with the bar with over 100 guests in the hotel.

We was very busy and we did apologies about the wait regarding the tea and scones and I chased this up with the barman on the day

We hope to see you return soon

Room waa ok, pool was nice but jacuzzi was cold. Enjoyed the stay up untill breakfast when waiter just ignored us. After having an arguement with someone else he disappeared and we ended up with no breakfast. Luckily was only an extra £2.

I had the opportunity to stay here one night and enjoyed it thoroughly. The hotel is old and leans. My room was a bit askew but I think it added to the southern English air. The wood paneling everywhere, the paintings, the hearth, all contributed to that olde inn feel to me. The room was spacious and warm. The bed was soft and smelled clean. The shower was a little wonky in that the shower head was a bit mineralized and sort of sprayed a general area.
The breakfast was lovely with poached eggs and sausage, the full English as it were. And the device was great. The young man attending was very polite, very expedient, and took care of the whole dining room with ease. Plus the view of the sunrise at breakfast was pretty darn good too. I would definitely stay here again if given the opportunity.
