Weekend in Bournemouth

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Dec 2024via mobile
The hotel has a perfect location, close to the centre, close to the beach and close to the train station. The hotel is cozy and the restaurant, gym, jacuzzi and pool are very nice. The staff was friendly, regarding the room we booked a junior suite, the pictures of the rooms are the same, but from the second and third night ( Friday-Saturday) were some celebrations and parties and our room was one floor up from the meeting rooms, was difficult to sleep with the music and we had some noise coming from the bathroom, the breakfast was okay, in case we go back to Bournemouth definitely we’ll stay there.

A lovely weekend stay. Staff are really helpful & friendly especially Thomas behind the bar! The hotel is in a great location with a car park. There is a good choice for breakfast & evening meal options are available. The swimming pool & spa is great too.

We stayed in the Connaught lodge which was off the main hotel (it was a buy a gift present), we cannot fault our stay - lovely big room with a separate lounge/dressing table area and a massive bathroom with integral shower plus a bath (usually you get one or the other) we had a meal on our first night in the restaurant The Connaught Brasserie (every course absolutely delicious) and the 2 young men behind the bar were very friendly and couldn’t do enough, as were the receptionist staff, breakfast was a help yourself buffet, again was amazing, we did have to ask for a couple of things that had run out but was topped up within minutes, the only thing I think which was disappointing was the £10 parking per night (I do think it should be £10 for your entire stay) as I wouldn’t be happy to stay for a week and have to outlay £70 on top, think that needs to be reviewed but overall it was a 2 night 5 star break and we will definitely return in the future.

My grandson had to sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed, and we had to ask for his bedding. My grand daughter shared a double bed with my mum. For £800!!!

Could hear "Honeymooning" couple in another room.
No fridge in the room.
Tables were sticky at breakfast - I think it was residue build up from the spray cleaner.
Buffet breakfast was smashing, although there was a queue for the toaster going slowly.
Floor was filthy in the buffet area, but to be expected.

Free water in bottles, coffee and kettle provided.
Room was serviced excellently.
Underground Pool in the other building was nice. And we were given towels down there so there was no need to take the ones from the hotel room.
All the staff were nice.

Advice to Managers:
For the cost of the rooms, the tables should have had tablecloths to add some finesse.
Adding an upfront car park charge of £16 really leaves a bad taste in your mouth before your holiday starts.

Room tip: The car park charge is not applied if you book direct with the hotel.

Thank you for your review Andreal. We don’t have rates of circa £400 a night, would you please reach out to the General Manager with details of your booking so we can look into your reservation gm@theconnaught.co.uk

The Connaught has limited rooms suitable for children, we have two Lodge Suites which consist of a double bed and separate room other double sofa bed, the sofa beds are suitable for children up to around 12 years old and should be made up by the housekeeping team if we are aware that they are needed - my apologies if this was not the case. The alternative is double or twin rooms sharing with a parent or guardian. Parking is available free of charge when booking direct with the hotel.

Kind regards,
