Great staff, a good pool and a fabulous breakfast combined to make my stay at the Elstead very pleasant. I would certainly go back to this hotel and recommend it. Furnishings are slightly tired but this is reflected in the price. The reception staff were exceptionally good providing maps and local information ........they were always very willing to help and always smiling and courteous and all other hotel staff were equally polite, always acknowledging with a smile.

Wanting to visit our daughter who is at AUB uni I found this hotel. Loved the idea of having a gym, pool, steam room on site was an added bonus. I phoned to book a double room for my hubby and I and they had a special offer on if I booked a table for dinner we got a 3 course meal for £12 each. I asked as we were down to see our daughter would it be possible to book for her too.. this was not a problem. Food was lovely at both dinners and the buffet breakfast was nice too. Room was comfortable and staff were friendly..even had a laugh when the music playing one evening in the restaurant changed to Christmas music . Would recommend.

Have been staying in the Elstead for a few years now and always look forward to going back.

Friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast is great. Bar is nice relaxing. Always enjoy the pool and spa which are a lovely way to start and end the day.

Tremendous hotel.

There are so many hotels in Bournemouth - it's a great place - so how to choose?? Answer: when part of a group booking, be pleased someone else has made the choice. The location is ideal - a 10 minute walk from the clifftop, 20 minutes from the Pier. The building isn't fancy or impressive but it's modern enough. The rooms are a little dated but have all the facilities needed for a long weekend. What makes the place worth a visit are thee staff (who were all a delight - nothing is too much trouble for them when asked) and the food (which was exceptional when a group of 70 is being catered for).
The leisure facilities - a pool, sauna and gym equipment are better than many hotels offer, well-maintained and open long hours.
Breakfasts and dinners obviously use quality ingredients and the dinners we enjoyed were perfectly served. The group we were with were well known and very much welcomed. Good customer service must come from the top and the training must be of a high order.

Room tip: Front rooms have sunny aspect, rear rooms are quieter but views are ordinary

Firstly the good stuff. The staff are amazing - helpful, friendly, efficient, and always happy to go the extra mile with the big smile. We couldn't fault them at any level. In fact, put any of the staff in a huge 5* place and they'd still shine. We were there for a big weekend function and the food was brilliant. Plenty of choice, served hot to the whole table at once, just lovely - as was breakfast. We used the indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi which were a wonderful resource on a wet day (some even used a fantastically well equipped gym). BUT, and its a big but, the whole hotel is just a bit down at heel. The dining room is stark and bare, the bar/lounge needs some major tlc; the entrance hall and corridor to the only lift is marked by chipped paint, scuffs and poor decoration. The bedroom we were in was fine and seemed as though it had been recently decorated, but the public rooms are, frankly, shabby. Pity.

Room tip: Ask for a front room, with sunny views out.
