First visit to Lola’s and when I’m next in Bournemouth I will definitely return and will certainly recommend to people who visit the area. Delicious food, nice atmosphere the waiter/waitress seem passionate about their food which was lovely. Sangria was delicious and I would recommend the prawns in garlic big prawns, fresh and tasty. Black pudding with eggs and potatoes was another favourite

While visiting our daughter, she recommended this tapas restaurant. What a gem! The food was excellent - reminiscent of our trips to Spain. It is not a large place so be sure to book. Very friendly staff! The churros dipped in a warm chocolate sauce is a great finish to the meal.

An intimate restaurant with a great atmosphere, nice menu and great value. Really enjoyed our visit, had one of the best evenings out for ages. Owners and staff were terrific as well. Certainly recommend this place for a really nice atmospheric night out.

We are Grandparents in our late 40's and early 50's, and consider ourselves foodies who do a lot of home cooking as well as eating out regularly. We don't expect 'perfection' when we eat out (things sometimes go wrong), but do expect good service, a nice atmosphere and good food. We try to be objective and will always give an honest review.

We stopped overnight in Bournemouth on our way down to the West Country for a weeks break and were looking for a nice restaurant to kick off our holiday. We did a trip advisor search and Lolas came up with a 5 star rating and lots of good reviews so we thought we would give it a try.....and really glad we did!

The first thing to say is it is not near the centre of the main high street area or the sea front but DON'T let that put you off, sometimes the best finds are not in the touristy areas and are a off the beaten track, and this is the case with Lolas. However, when you walk through the door you will be transported to a little bit of Spain, as the restaurant is very atmospheric and conjures up a little rustic Spanish Tapas bar....Lots of pictures and mirrors on the wall, deep red paint, wooden tables and chairs, lots of cushions, and bags of atmosphere.

The next thing to mention is the staff. We were greeted by a waitress who genuinely made us feel at home and showed us to our table. A drinks order was taken straight away and then we were given time to look at the menu, we were never hurried and it felt nice and relaxed, they got that balance of being attentive and were there when you needed them, but they were not rushing you either. We cannot emphasise enough how friendly and helpful ALL the staff were and they really came across as enjoying there jobs which was great.

All of the above wouldn't count for anything if the food wasn't any good... but we are pleased to say that the food was fantastic!!

We are not big eaters and we weren't sure how many Tapas dishes we should order, so we ordered just 4 dishes from the Tapas menu (Along with some Olives to start with). However, we were reassured by the helpful waitress that if we found we were still hungry when we finished, just order some more if we wanted them ...which we know is the way with Tapas, but it was the relaxed and friendly way the waitress came across, and she didn't try to get you to over order in the first place which was so nice.

We ordered the fried squid, Chicken Croquettes, Mussels and Patas Bravas. The Patas Bravas were lovely and you could order different sauces to go with them, we had a spicy tomato dip as well as a garlic dip, both were out of this world... particularly the garlic one, which was garlicky without blowing your head off.
The Chicken Croquettes were crisp on the outside and melting in the centre and totally delicious.
My wife and I are still arguing about which was best between the Squid and the Mussels, but the truth is they were both fantastic. The Mussels were plump and delicious and were cooked with garlic and wine, and the squid was so tender with a light crispy batter (Much like a tempura batter)......All the dishes were simple but sublime, a big well done to the chefs. We found that the portions were generous for Tapas and we didn't need to order more.

(Just an interesting note, obviously Spanish food does include a lot dishes with garlic, and although we were a bit garlicky for the rest of the evening as you would expect, the next morning we were fine. Over the years I have found it is a sign that the restaurant is using really fresh garlic which I find doesn't tend to linger in the same way as garlic that has been hanging around for longer before being used).

To wrap up a lovely meal with a bill that was very reasonable then you have a real winner on your hands... they deserve to be packed every night......Our only regret is we don't live in Bournemouth!! so if you do live in Bournemouth GO TO LOLAS!!!! You won't regret it, and when we do return to Bournemouth we will definitely go straight back.

Well done all at Lolas!
