The wife and I fancied a short break within the UK, and as neither of us had visited Bournemouth in many a year, decided a couple of nights there might be a good idea. I booked 2 nights at this hotel, basis B&B at a very reasonable rate and we travelled up on a Friday, staying the Friday and Saturday nights. I have always been one to make my own mind up with regard to many things, especially when it comes down to reviews in respect of hotels and restaurants, so was somewhat surprised to read some of the previous reviews in respect of the hotel, the hotel staff and condition of the accommodation. We found every member of staff extremely friendly and amiable, keen to assist and the service received of a high standard. On checking in the gentleman on reception ensured we were fully informed of facilities available, breakfast times etc and that should we forego 'housekeeping' during our stay the entitlement to a free drink each from the bar, an offer gratefully accepted. I notice some previous reviews consider some updating/modernisation is required, however although some paintwork does need a 'touch up' here and there, we found the hotel to be cosy, comfortable and welcoming, and rather than refer to decorative issues, I would class the accommodation as somewhat charming. A large, comfortable double bed, a spacious room with ample tea/coffee making facility and a view across the sands to the pier...lovely. The buffet style breakfast is both varied and plentiful with fruit, cereals, continental breakfast items and a good selection of cooked breakfast items, coupled with a very efficient team of staff made for an enjoyable and hearty breakfast to start the day and saw us through until the evening when we enjoyed a succulent dinner, served by a delightful team who ensured we had all we required. The Lamb Rump is exceptional !! Checkout was quick and painless, the ladies on reception being friendly and courteous and genuinely interested as to where we heading and whether we enjoyed our stay. I firmly believe in giving credit where its' due, so well done to the team and thank you for making our brief visit so comfortable end enjoyable. We shall certainly look to return at some point in the future.
