Outstanding location. Delightful hotel, full of character. Staff are great: courteous, friendly, discrete, efficient. Food was wonderful.

The best tip would be to look up the tide times, you can walk across to Burgh Island when the tide is low. There is a sea tractor if the tide is high so you can still get across, although we enjoyed the stroll across. There was quite a hike to the top and various pathways to get there by. A really nice place to visit and we had a picnic at the top, beautiful scenery to be enjoyed.

Easy to find car park and reasonable charges (use a parking app where possible), phone signal wasn't great so we pre paid and parked up!
The venus cafe near the carpark was great. Really good hot food and nice coffee, all sit outside so wrap up warm. The beach is lovely and open, dog friendly and plenty of sand. Keep an eye out for the tide as it comes in and cuts off Burgh Island very quickly. There is a water taxi that can take you across though. Do walk to the top if you can for some beautiful coastline and stunning views, it is very much worth it.

We were visiting the hotel, so took a stroll around the island first. It is not large, so takes about 20 minutes to stroll around, admiring the views which are stunning.

Steep walk up to the huers hut, so not recommended for those who are unsteady on their feet.

Free to enter the island, although if the tide comes in, it will cost you £2 to get back on the sea tractor.

Car parking in Bigbury-on-sea. Machine does not take cards, so bring lots of coins, or pay by text.

Have been wanting to go here for years and so glad that we managed it especially at the correctly planned time for the tide as well

Have a nice walk across the open part of the island which is very pleasant

Love to stay at the Hotel but out of our current price range!

Enjoy
