Stayed here a while ago and was pleasantly surprised by the delightful makeover. Staff very welcoming and pleasant. Room was really lovely. My biggest and most frustrating complaint is that the wife system that is in place is one worst I have ever encountered. If you are a businessman that needs to get access to emails then forget this place, stay over the way at the travelodge. A little investment as a hotel that portrays is image as one of the best in Plymouth wouldn't go amiss

Having travelled up from Cornwall to attend a function we entered the reception area and were greeted with the warmest of smiles from Tracey, the receptionist. After I had entered the registration Number of our car onto the display screen Tracey explained where our room was and we were given two electronic keys. The bedroom was large with all the facilities we required and like the rest of the hotel spotless. The beds were very comfortable. The cooked breakfast was excellent. We thought there would have been a lager choice of yoghurt. Thick granary bread would have been better than thin bread for the toast. There is a small charge for parking. This a privately run hotel and owned by the Hajiyianni since 1984.

Room tip: You are staying a very large City so there is bound to some noise.

On the plus side, all the hotel staff were very friendly and the room was spacious and newly decorated, with a very comfy bed. The breakfast choice of hot food was excellent and it was all cooked fresh to order. Negatives were the really slow wifi, only one small lift (max 4 people) to serve the hotel and housekeeping staff, so lots of traipsing up and down stairs if you didn't want to wait for ages. No fresh air in the bathroom as the windows had been painted shut, and not good to come back in the evening for a shower to find used towels (left on the floor for changing, as advised to do) had just been folded back onto the towel rack and were still wet. For the price, they should be doing better.

We originally booked 2 double rooms as there were no family rooms available but on arrival we discovered that there was a family room. Even though it was past the deadline for cancellation, the receptionist dealt with our previous booking and moved us to the family room with no problem at all. The family rooms are very comfortable and large with the children's beds in a separate room. The pool is great - not huge but perfect for kids. The only downside was that we were at the front of the building and the traffic noise and very lively patrons of the nearby pub made getting our children to sleep quite difficult (and had we not been so tired we would have had trouble). Not the hotel's fault but I would suggest that they perhaps invest double glazing for the rooms at the front. Breakfast was great and the waiting staff were very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel for families not lEast because the staff offered really outstanding customer service.

My sweetheart and I stayed over last night in order to attend an old friend's wife's Birthday party, nearby. On arrival we were dealt with courteously and efficiently. The room was absolutely spotless and had every convenience one might require.

On returning to the hotel we had a night cap in the bar. Again, staff were efficient and attentive; without being over-effusive.

A great night's sleep followed by an enormous breakfast - it almost defeated me :-)

Check out painless, due to Amy the ever-efficient and social receptionist - thank you.

Will defo return the next excuse we have to overnight in Plymouth.
