We stayed here for two nights. The room was wonderfully clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast and Evening meals were excellent. Staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much

If you are in Lynmouth on a Monday evening in April you will find there are not many restaurants serving dinner. And so it was that my wife and I booked a table at The Rising Sun Restaurant. The actual restaurant is tiny with only 20 covers, all of which were occupied on the night we visited. The bar area acts as overspill for the restaurant on busy nights. The tables are quite close together but this did not prove to be a problem, either with table service or with noise. The menu showcases both the regional specialities of Exmoor and the local seafood. The service was efficient and friendly. The quality of the cooking took me by surprise as it was so good.I was surprised because the interval between placing an order and delivery of the food was so short. We had to ask the waitress to slow down and leave us for 10 minutes before we ordered pudding. We enjoyed the meal so much we reserved a table for the next night, abandoning our original plans. The menu the next night was exactly the same but there was sufficient choice for this not to be a problem. The absence of a specials blackboard was surprising. This is an understated classy restaurant and we look forward to returning on another Monday evening.

We would always recommend pre booking a table for the restaurant as we do get very busy. That said we do serve the same menu in our bar area but you cant reserve tables, but our staff will always endeavor to find a table for anybody looking to eat ,this can incur a wait. Our Chefs work very hard on their menus using fresh food, cooking to order and where possible locally sourced produce so you comment about the quality of cooking was very much appreciated by them as where the comments about the serve. We thank you very much for your review and your returning custom and look forward to welcoming you back next time you are visiting the area.

The inn is in a great spot and is a lovely property. Every one of the staff we encountered was friendly and did their most to make our stay pleasant and comfortable.
The food was amazing and good value.
The only downside was that we booked for a "discounted" rate of £125 for the night and our room, whilst pleasant enough, was pretty cramped and a view of the flat roof over the gents rather than the harbour. There will always be a room or two that aren't as good as the pictures on the website and if you book for a discounted rate then you must expect to be allocated one of these rooms, rather than the harbour view/free standing bath ones. Still, for £125 I'd have hoped for a bit more from the room.
I'd go again, as everything else was great, but I'd probably stump up a bit more to get a nicer room.

Due to the nature of our building all room sizes vary .We have 2 types of standard rooms available. The room allocated to you is situated on the side of the building whilst these are larger rooms they do not have views. We do have 3 standard sea view rooms, these are situated in our annex they are smaller rooms but do all have sea views.Rooms are allocated at time of booking so you can always ask for a sea view and if one is available then we will gladly allocate it to you.We were really pleased to read you thought the food was amazing, a great compliment to receive. As were the comments about the staff making your stay a comfortable and pleasant one.We thank you very much for your review and look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Service was second to none ! --- The staff were friendly and extremely helpful at all times' they made us feel that nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was clean and comfortable, the on-suite was clean and spotless, and the shower was as good as any '5* hotel !. If you have never visited Lynmouth and the surrounding area then you have missed one of the 'JEWELS' in England's crown !.

Room tip: Room's at the front have beautiful harbor views ----

We booked our room at the last minute and the Rising Sun were so accommodating. They let us view a couple of rooms before deciding which was best for us. We chose No 2 with wonderful views of the harbour. The rooms were immaculately clean and the service was impeccable throughout. The food was wonderful, both breakfast and dinner. The bar is welcoming and friendly. The only downsides were that Wi-Fi was sketchy (and for some reason a different access code every day!) and the loo did not flush properly - best to avoid Room 2 for a romantic get-away!

Room tip: Always ask for a sea view - they are spectacular
