We had a great time getting away from it all and Karen was a fantastic hostess. She had great local knowledge and old ideas of things to do for all the family. It was great space to get back to and was very welcoming. Karen had left some homely touches for our arrival which were gratefully received after a long drive. All in all would highly recommend it. Close to lots of attractactions and good access to local places.
Peaceful location, plenty of hot water and comfortable beds. Appreciated flowers, milk and wine waiting on our arrival.
Any complaints that we had were taken onboard by Karen who apologised and assured us that they would be dealt with.
"Drift" and "Harvest" are two adjoining cottages 1/2 a mile away from the pretty little village of Philleigh.
Truro is 6 miles away, St Mawes 5 miles and the beach 3 miles.
We stayed in "Drift" for two weeks in July/August 2015. My wife and I, with our two young girls (4, 6).
The cottage was the best equipped, and nicest inside and out that we have ever hired in the UK or Europe. A really brilliant place to stay. It's a fairly new renovation (~5 years ago?) and it has been done to an exceptional standard.
The main area is open plan eating/dining/living with a loft bedroom and two downstairs bedrooms. One is ensuite and there's also a separate bathroom with bath and shower.
The kitchen had absolutely everything you could need and all the fittings, cutlery etc are spot on. Dishwasher, cooker, washing machine/tumble dryer. Couldn't ask for more.
Good TV, DVD player, Sony stereo and loads of books and toys and games in the living room kept the kids entertained. The only negative I can summon is there wasn't a phone or wifi (internet connections not possible in the area) and the mobile reception was patchy. That's nit-picking though! You come to this kind of place to get away after all.
Outside there's parking for 4 or 5 cars between the two apartments. There's a nice small garden shared between the two at the front, and then separate raised gardens behind the building with picnic tables, a BBQ each and a clothes drying thing.
Karen and Rob who run the apartments are fairly local and couldn't have done more to make us feel at home. The bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely touch.
There's tons to do in the area. The Hidden Hut (google it) was a beautiful spot for lunch and a swim. The Rose Vine is a lovely nearby restaurant. St Mawes is a wonderful seaside town with loads of rock pools. Trelissick is a great National Trust house nearby. Eden Project is the Eden Project. Truro the biggest large place with mainstream shops and restaurants.
We will be back. Absolutely brilliant.
We stayed here may half term this year with my Partner our 5 year old son & my parents we had a lovely week in a beautiful holiday home. Very nicely decorated, all the facilities & a very welcome bottle of wine & items in the fridge when we got there!
The power shower was amazing it was a lovely peaceful spot if you don't mind being a drive away from places.
We were very lucky with the weather but I can imagine it being a lovely cosy place in the winter months.
I can't thank Karen & Rob enough for making a fuss of our son on our last day there which was also his 5th birthday! They are lovely warm people & their lovely son too. A big recommendation to anyone.
A very well equipped, decorated and modern cottage with all facilities. It felt like a home from home. A perfect location for getting around the area.
This is our twelfth visit to the Roseland Peninsula and this is definitely the best cottage we have stayed in.
We will be booking this cottage for our next visit later this year.
