“Wonderful 3 bed holiday home”
Reviewed 14 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

we know st ives extremely well and wanted somewhere clean , tidy, with full facilities and slightly out of town centre.
We booked the Mermaid House and it was brilliant , we had extended family joining us who were not as mobile as us and the house was perfect , we had downstairs bedroom, bathroom and our family had the ground floor which had a double bed en suite.
Also on ground floor was the lvng room and kitchen which was perfect as our family didnt need to go up or down stairs.
The garden was very good , nothing fancy but equiped with a nice patio set with parasol , a couple little white chairs and a couple plants. A nice grass area along with a patio area.
Dont be put off by the hill up to house , i managed it about 3 times , the trick is not to rush, just take your time, perfect after a lavish evening meal. alternatively get a taxi back , you can pick up a taxi by cinema rank and will cost between 3.50-4.00. Walking down the hill was fine, lovely cottages , a stream and good pavements (roundabouts can get busy so open eyes) .
There is a coop about 7 mins down the road for essentials and newspapers.
If you are going out of st ives then house is located perfectly as its best to use the Halsetown/lelant back road.
The owners have got everything right with holiday home and if i could find fault with something i would say so, there is not , nothing, anything i could niggle at.
Thankyou to Denise for letting us holiday in st ves in a wonderful holiday home :)

“Just as perfect”
Reviewed 2 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

the second time around - this time for a whole month!! This wonderful vacation home is situated in a perfect spot; minutes from St. Ives harbour, where there are wonderful pubs, shops, restaurants, not to mention the breath taking scenery. The house is absolutely beautiful, extremely well designed and maintained, yet still very welcoming and cozy. Some amazing running routes, hiking the south west coastal path and interesting spots to explore in the immediate area! Day trips to Mousehole is well worth the drive; we had the best cream tea in Pam's Pantry - scones fresh from the oven - fresh clotted cream and the perfect pot of tea. The owners of Mermaid House are incredibly thoughtful, they think of everything to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable, from a delightful welcome package to a pint of milk in the fridge; everything is presented to a very high standard! Would love to return for a third visit and highly recommend this property.

What can we say? Your appreciation of Mermaid means so much. It is important to us that our guests enjoy their stay and feel Mermaid is home for the duration. Our manager reported that Mermaid was absolutely SPOTLESS after your departure. Thank you so much for that and thank you for returning. We are very proud to have transatlantic guests!! Take care and enjoy your Canadian summer! Denise

“Another great holiday at the Mermaid, St Ives”
Reviewed 7 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Have just returned from another amazing holiday in St Ives with my family. The Mermaid House is a great base to travel from as well as being a bolt hole in gorgeous St Ives if you just want to go to the beach or visit the many galleries and shops.

St Ives feels sunny even if the rain sometimes makes an unwelcome appearance. This time, amongst our usual day-trip places we visited Falmouth which was a great little town.

The Mermaid is a really fantastic, well finished, house with all the facilities you need. We have been coming to st ives every year for 21 years. This is our second stay at the Mermaid and we have been really happy there. It's nice and spacious so we've been able to have friends and family stay with us.

If you enjoy walking you can take the scenic route to the beach by joining the coastal path in 15 mins. Breathtaking views to rival even the Amalfi Coast, where we holidayed earlier this year.

Otherwise it is a 20 minute walk to the beach. Frequent buses run up and down the hill, which is quite steep, for less mobile people. They go to the rugby club for £1 and then you can walk from there in 10 mins or taxis are around £4.30 which you might want to choose after an evening out on the harbour.

We'll be back
