Just spent 8 days at Bay Beresford, hotel is clean and tidy, food very good and all the staff friendly and helpful. Newquay is a bit run down in places but aren't most seaside towns in the uk, it didn't detract from our enjoyment, trips very good and well organised. The only fault i found with the hotel was that our room at the rear of the hotel was above the extractor system for the kitchen which seemed to serve as an alarm clock when it was switched on at some unearthly hour. Anyway all in all a great holiday made better by Chris our coach driver who really does put his heart and soul into making your holiday unforgetable.

Room Tip: sea view rooms better

Hi Robert,

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us.

I am glad to hear that you had a good time with us. Rooms closer to the kitchen tend to get some noise form the extractor fan that is a problem we are aware of and is being addressed.

Kind Regards

My wife and I used this hotel on a Shearings coach trip and were given room 19. We could not fault the coach or driver. Niether could we fault the hotel in general as the reception staff were superb, as was the food and restaurant service. The let down was the room. It showed a great deal of wear and tear and beyond. Walls had been patched with paint of a different shade and still showed wear signs. The ceiling above the entrance door had not been painted after a problem from the room above. Washbasin was cracked. Shower door frame has lost the white finish. Tiles in the shower had black marks that could be mould or bad grouting. The carpet needs changing or a dam dam good industrial shampooing. The shower tap needed a maintenance man on two occasions as it changed from cold to boiling hot, but I must add it was attended to very quickly not like the bathroom door latch which had not been seen to before we left. The kitchen extract fan is below the window and acts as an alarm clock in the morning and a siesta disturbance in the afternoon which means you have to shut the window in an already stuffy room, there were no fans available at reception. This kitchen extract fan should be boxed in and soundproofed. In our opinion this room did not reach the standard it should have been. Oh yes we learnt that there were no spare rooms at the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask if you can upgrade to a better room and get a sea view

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to rate us on TripAdvisor.

I am glad to hear that you were happy with most aspects of your stay and do appreciate your comment in regards to the staff, they all work very hard to deliver the best possible service.
I am sorry that the room you been allocated to was unsatisfactory for you, it was refurbished back in 2016 and I do take your comment on board and will investigate its current state.
We certainly do have fans available on request and I can only assume that you been misinformed about this.

Why don't you have a look at our brochure for our coast and country selection with beautiful locations for a more sophisticated break.

Kind Regards

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. We were supposed to stay in an apartment in a different part of Newquay but this was not suitable to stay in.
After looking around for two hours for another place to stay we found this hotel.
The staff were really friendly and very sympathetic of our situation. They explained to us that they only had one room left but it had not yet been refurbished as they are currently in the process of doing up all of their rooms.
They gave us a discounted price and even through in breakfast. The room was really good, clean and had a fantastic view of the sea.
we realy could not fault the staff and how helpfull and friendly they all were to us.
The hotel is also in walking distance from all beaches and the town centre.

Hi Sinead,

Thank you for the great feedback.

The hotel has a fantastic location overlooking the sea right on top of Tolcarne beach and it provides stunning view for us all.
We are part of the company refurbishment program and soon will be fully done. Should you decide to stay with us again in the future , I am sure we can provide an even better experience for you.

Kind Regards

Thoroughly enjoyed our mini break. Excellent hotel with brilliant staff. Stayed in a sea view room which was very clean and comfortable with a flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities with lovely views.

The meals were excellent with no waiting inbetween courses. The restaurant staff work really hard and deserve a thankyou we sat at table 13. The gentleman who organises the times of the meals and tables deserves a special thankyou also as he is polite and organises the restaurant very well for the amount of guests he needs to manage.

The bar staff and Reception staff are also very friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble.

We had a fire alarm go off at 6.30am and the staff were great and organised which was good to see even though this was a false alarm.

I am recommending this hotel to all my family and friends and will definitely stay here again. The location is just right for everything too. Next time though we will try to reserve parking at the hotel.

Hi,

Thank you for your excellent review.

I am glad to hear you had an enjoyable break with us. Most of our employees been with us for a long time and they all work very hard to deliver the best service possible.
I am delighted to tell you that additional parking is being built as we speak at the rear of the hotel and that will be up and running very shortly easing the difficulty of parking for our customers.

I am looking forward to see you again.

Kind Regards

We went on a short Shearings break to this hotel for my birthday in April. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel, friendliness of the staff and the food was good too.We were literally at the top of the hotel in a recently refurbished room which was very nicely done.My only concern would be for less able bodied people as the lift only held 2 people and stopped at the 3rd floor there were another 2 flights of stairs to get to our room which wasn't an issue for us but would be for some. The 3 course evening meal was served to you and the choice was more than adequate with the added bonus of a chefs special each night, the only downside with this was if you were on the later sitting it had sometimes run out!Breakfast was buffet style and to be honest a bit of a scrum with items running out all the time, they were replenished but by the time this happened the rest of your food would be cold. The evening entertainment was o.k if you like bingo which was on every night followed by an act of some description, not really to our taste. As part of the deal however you got 4 drinks vouchers each per night which was excellent as with 1 voucher you could get either a gin and tonic or pint of beer,if you had a half pint that was also 1 voucher. For what we paid it was great value and we will definitely be doing another one soon.

Room Tip: If you have any mobility issues be sure to ask for a room on either the 1st or 2nd floor.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to rate us.

I am happy to see that you had an overall good experience with us. I agree , breakfast tends to be very busy and occasionally it creates unwanted extra waiting time. We aim to address this issue by encouraging our customers to split breakfast as much as possible and most of the time it works fine. I am sorry if you weren't fully satisfied with the service provided.

Hope to see you again.

Kind Regards
