Deciding we needed a few days away before the Christmas mallee started Jayne and I decided on a short break in Cornwall. I looked for a coastal hotel with amazing views and something a little special. As it was early December I managed to acquire a great deal online which was exactly what we wished for. I came across the Lands End hotel a short distance from Sennen cove perched on cliff tops, it looked perfect. A few days later we arrived at the hotel via the M5 and A30 road which was quite a journey, but well worth it. I recommend a lunch stop at the world famous Jamaica Inn a hundred yards off the A30 near Launceston, the food was great and the history amazing.

Checking in to the Lands End hotel we were warmly greeted and shown our fantastic room with amazing an sea view. All amenities you require are proved for you and cleanliness throughout the hotel was immaculate. Should you go out of season you will find the the small village of Sennen semi closed many fast food and pubs either shut or on short hours. However the hotel has a couple of eating facilities, a bar menu containing dishes such as fish dishes, pasta and burger, a kind off slightly posher pub grub. The other is a restaurant menu with a classier style of cuisine created with a little more finesse. I tried both and could not fault any of the food. The location is isolated with nothing but shrubs and gorse bushes for miles dotted with an old building here and there. An occasional farm gave the thought that apart from tourism there was also a thriving agricultural and livestock trade within the bleak but fantastic landscape. The area around the Hotel was stunning heather strewn land atop jagged rocks leading to a roaring sea below was something something straight out of a Bronte novel. As evening fell a rolling fog would creep eerily towards land across the sea . This was a fantastic trip for us and as with any trip if you don't do your homework you may not receive exactly what you wished for. Use the internet check out reviews on this site, do the homework and you will enjoy your holiday much more.

Room Tip: Sea view. centre rear room is the best view but other are good. We had a corner room, we had two views for the price of one.

Arrived at the hotel ,which is in the most wonderful setting on the edge of Land’s End cliff top, to be met by very helpful and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room . Good breakfast served in lovely conservatory with beautiful views over the sea. Lovely sitting outside watching the sunset . Great walks in stunning scenarios. Only thing to be aware of is that there are no lifts in this hotel.

View stunning, reception/service awesome, food excellent. The reason not 5 star was the over enthusiastic removal of glasses. People came back from the dance floor to find staff had taken glasses, please do not assume when people are dancing that they don't want want their drinks.

Room Tip: Worth upgrading

This was a really lovely hotel with charm and so romantic. The hotel is very clean and well kept. The rooms with a view are just wonderful. Small rooms with not a lot of extras but just so so charming. The restaurant overlooks the cliffs and the sea and is just wonderful. The food was well priced and excellent quality. Walks abound around the hotel with excellent views of the cliffs and Atlantic ocean. Sunsets are beautiful. There is a amusement and shops center connected to the hotel. These are fine but for us not the reason to visit. The rooms are a bit small, beds wonderful and comfortable. Bathrooms basic but adequate. Breakfast was outstanding. Staff excellent and very friendly and smiling.

Room Tip: Book a room with a view of the ocean. The view is what you come for.
