Apartment nicely furnished but needed a little more cleaning. The welcome pack was
exceptionally good. However, car park to apartment entrance is 100 yards including 21 steep steps.Too far for the elderly or disabled.
I don’t normally do this, but sometimes….
There’s nothing particularly wrong with this apartment. It’s fine for two people, in a good location, has all facilities. Some attention to cleanliness would help, but that’s not the big issue.
Check in is the problem.
We were travelling from Australia and would not arrive until around 7.00pm after 30+ hours of travel. Check in was supposed to be around 4.00pm. To circumvent this I rang the caretaker (from Australia) and e-mailed the owner a couple of weeks beforehand. Caretaker said they’d be at ‘Gym Club’ and would come ASAP, I don’t remember the owner responding.
On arrival at Manchester I contacted the caretaker but again but no flexibility - ‘I told you, we’re at Gym club’.
We arrived outside at 6.45pm after our long journey. The caretaker (actually her husband) didn’t arrive until nearly 8.00pm. Luckily we were with a relative and could wait in their car. Otherwise we’d have had to wait outside on a cool evening. Caretaker was unapologetic - ‘We're being put out - didn’t agree to work like this’.
Really not good enough (it's not cheap) and I’ve written to the owner since - no reply, hence this post.
The apartment has many positives as stated by other reviewers. It was a lovely touch to receive the welcome pack, especially having arrived at night with no car and no chance of grocery shopping. The location by the canal is idyllic. However, the standard advertised, needs to be maintained in order to keep the property appealing. We found near to half empty containers in the bathroom, broken tongs, only one bike with flat tyres when two were supposed to be available, un-cleaned coasters and table mats, sediment at the bottom of the water bottle in the fridge and as stated in another review, the balcony could not be used due to bird droppings over the table and flooring. Could still receive a five star rating if there was more attention to detail.
If you need a base for your visit to Chester then look no further than the Tower Wharf Apartment. The location is on the Chester Canal Basin - plenty of narrow-boat action - and is a ten-minute stroll from the walls. Fresh, modern and comfortable inside with everything you need the make your stay a pleasurable one (not forgetting the liquid welcome gift). From time of booking there was plenty of communication from Janine, Enzo and Gail, so at the risk of repeating myself, look no further and plan your Chester visit around this apartment.
Great location for the city. Bus stop near by if you prefer public transport.
Loved the welcome pack of eggs, milk etc- A nice touch. Clean and well appointed apartment. Shame that the balcony was really a no go area with the local pigeons and their mess. The rear conifer trees have grown somewhat since the photo was taken. All things considered this is a really lovely apartment and well worth a try.
